Matt pointed this out to me: It's an all-vinyl reissue of the old Popy Jumbosaurus, sans voice mechanism and launchers, standing 42 cm tall. Does anyone know when this was released, what the original yen price was, and what color variants were done?
Hey Roger, I believe it was released a few months ago by Slash Co. I was quoted 17,000 Yen He's enormous and I don't think there was any more variants just the original green colorway He needs a Tokyo tower
there was this version a few months back, and three other color versions a year prior. black vinyl with red and purple, red vinyl with black and silver, and brown vinyl with green and blue.
Looks like there are (or are going to be) 6 versions including a glow version. Here is a link to the Slash company page that has links to the different versions:http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash_company/ggozira/sale.html and here is a link to the Slash Company home page: http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/slash.html If anyone has a glow Baragon for sale/trade (especially the peach) hit me up.
This is unreal gorgeous! I wish they sold blanks of the black or brown. so aftermarket prices on these could pass loose fair vintage? after seeing this i would rather have the slash vinyl one than the popy original. i'm prolly in a minority but i like my americanized shogun/mattel sculpt 'zilla. Roger did you used to go to the Chiller Theatre cons?
Resurrecting this thread and posting for future reference. Slash's site is a little hosed but it looks like there were seven variants in total: http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/1.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/4.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/5.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/6.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/7.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/8.html http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... ira/9.html And specs on height, weight, and molding and paint characteristics: http://www.sepia.dti.ne.jp/alices/Slash ... guide.html
Yeah. From what I can tell, the Slash Company stopped doing anything back in December. I guess there's only so far you can go with reissuing Popy Toho and Daiei vinyls.
good luck on that! I spent most of the afternoon hitting up any resources trying to find these and pulled up a big goose egg.
These are great! Super7 had the black version sitting in the store for quite a while for a great price, but being the poor fool I am, I never had the measly amount needed to get it... And now it's gone... These are definately on my wish list though!
I'm also a fool for never bidding on one of the GID versions. I use to see them frequently on YJA but haven't in awhile. Also sad I missed the popy baragon glow reissues (pink and green versions). Whatever happened to Slash?
How refreshing to see hype build for a toy I already have rather than the other way around for a change. I believe they are out of business. The last update on their site is from the end of 09 (written in terms of heisei) and I believe explains they are done, though it is hard to understand even with an online translator. It is also their first update in a year after frequent updates up until the end of 08. Sad. I incidentally still need the painted green Mecha Goji and green Baragon as well.
I wish I had better pics of the fully-painted GID, but all I have are these ridiculously sized shots: 1, 2, 3, and 4. More reasonably sized versions of the same shots are here. Jerilock (who doesn't really post here anymore) has the mostly-unpainted glow version. I think he reads comic books in the dark just from the glow light! Ben (Prometheum696915186186546 or whatever) is selling one at the moment...
Yeah but thats a minimal painted almost unpainted version. Was looking for that pink or green gid one, but it's not pressing me to search hard or anything....
Slash was/is? such an overlooked and underrated little toy company. Amidst all the high priced vinyl of the years past, the smaller "Attacking Gojiras" were reeeeally inexpensive little gems.
Is that a new sculpt? I thought Slash's figures were all reissues of vintage molds. I love the proportions and texture on this guy.
It's a reissue of Popy's "Attacking Gojira". I don't know for certain if they used the original Popy molds or not. I do seem to recall they did just not 100%.
