I was once asked about a specific figure that someone had seen and was trying to track down (I won't go into the details). As it was remembered, this particular guy was a Godzilla but with a 'man' inside the costume. I wasn't really sure on the exact specifics, but I offered as much help as I could. None of my suggestions really seemed to fit though. He seemed to recall it being a more of a vintage-style vinyl figure. To my knowledge the following are some examples of costumed Gojis: 1. Haruo Nakijima in costume, vinyl http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2000/haruo_nakajima_godzilla_irasawa_version 2. as above, but in a resin to mimic a bronze statue 3. vintage Takara 'Combat Joe' in Godzilla suite, at least two variations (deluxe with multiple masks) from the 80s 4. A re-make of the above from Medicom's RAH line circa 2006 5. the more recent Microman line Personally I love the idea of removable mask kaiju, but I know its not for everyone. Anyone have any to add to this list?
Oh man, I wish I didn't know those Microman Godzillas existed. Are the suits pretty rubbery for easy posability?
They are very rubbery and completely poseable. There is a Megalon and Jet Jaguar with Micromen inside as well.
There is also the vintage Takara Combat Joe that comes with the Goji costume, that thing rules if you are into 12" figures or a Joe collector.
I love the awesome Medicom Repro's - when I first discovered them around 98/99 they blew my mind - how cool is it having the monsster WITH the dude inside teh suit - when I displayed him it would always be with teh dude sticking out of teh suit, all casual.
Here are some of mine! YAY! I love them!! MEN IN SUITS! I have a larger picture I can post - let me know.
^^ Nice to see a photo of the RAH Gamera and Gaos with the guys visible -- I think I need these now . . .
Ooh...didn't know M1 put out their Haruo Nakajima with brown pants! I've got the blue, but the brown's pretty sexy. Thanks for posting, Linda!
