I started looking into the old IKB Hedo sculpts and I was surprised to see how similar the new Gargamel versions are to those original toys. I knew Gargamel's characters were based off old drawings but I didn't realize that some figures (Hedos, Smogun) were so close to the IKB toys from the 60s. Gargamel have definitely altered the sculpts, making them more friendly with "softer" details.. What's the relation (if any) between Gargamel and IKB?
No relation just an influence. Lots of modern makers are influenced by the original toys. Here's a short IKB thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=12909 Also Hukkokudo did reissues of the original IKB toys years ago (all the Hedorah and much more) so if your keen on getting some but don't want to pay vintage prices they can be had very cheaply: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9465&hilit=hukkokudo
Yeah, I just got lost in links to dusty threads for about 40 minutes. Amazing to learn about the roots of Bemon, Hedoran, Smogun, and Zagoran!
Couldn't resist.. There's a clear green reissue Walking Hedo on it's way, just got the shipping notice!
