Finally got around to trying Uncle Boy Burger on Balboa near 3rd Avenue in the Richmond district. Had the O.G. Burger with their delicious seasoned fries. Dang good, and super-friendly staff. They have some Filipino food on the menu. I'll try the lumpia next time ... maybe post some pics.
talking to kirk yesterday, i remembered that i had taken photos of some burgers i've eaten in the past month or two... 900 grayson in berkeley. good breakfast place, great burger. Creekstone Natural Beef, Nueske’s Double Smoked Bacon, N.Y. White Cheddar, Crispy Shoestring Onions House-Made BBQ Sauce & Herb French Fries i wish i had another slice of the cheddar because i could hardly taste it... one of the reasons why i like going with american on a burger and not cheddar or jack. norman rose tavern in napa.... this time i got their lamb burger. wow. with garlic spinach and herbed goat cheese. it was so creamy and smooth. loved the picked salad that came with it as well. they have their own special pickle juice. it's a bit sweet and a whole lotta flavorful. took a picture of gott's roadside in st. helena, the original. it might just be the beautiful scenery, the great weather or all in my head, but this location has always tasted better than the one in napa and san fran. here are the regular cheeseburger (their really good secret sauce, toasted egg bun, american cheese, veggies grown at the site and 100% vegeterian fed beef) and the texas burger with jack, avocado, salsa, mayo, pickled jalapenos and their egg bun)
Has no one mentioned Burgermeister in SF yet? There's one just down the street from me so I tend to always go there. I think it's pretty excellent, although I'm no food aficionado. In fact I didn't even know how to spell "aficionado" until I just looked it up.
been there once a while back. I remember hating it because the chili on my chili cheese burger was way too salty. but I remember my wife's regular cheeseburger was decently good.
I tried Gott's one time at the Ferry Building and never went back. Patty was overcooked, took forever to get my food. Was just not good at all.
hmmmm, been to both Gott's in St. Helena and SF. A couple of times each. The original is definitely better than Ferry Bldg. But I have to admit not being blown away. going back to Marlowe as I heard their fried chicken sandwich is the best in the bay area.
This thread make me hungry. The Dutch aren't what you call burger specialists. I think most Bar restaurants serve burgers just to have them present on there menu.. Probably thinking that if someone is looking for a burger they would visit McD or BK. Besides those bad burger places we don't have many HQ burger restaurants. Thats why on most saturdays I build my own burger. Best base for booze Lots of fresh and fried unions and gouda cheese for me. Every once in a while adding some fried bacon. Sause differs from honey mustard to a home made mix of mayonaise and chilisuace. Will try my best to add some pictures this saturday.
I've had one of those dutch "hamburgers". Is it even made of meat? And what's the weird sweet sauce they use rather than ketchup? I'll stick to the fries, the herbs and the febo.
interesting... has anyone had one of these mystical burgers? never even heard of them before now. looks pretty simple. i'm down for a visit to the Ferry Bldg.
i am planning on going a saturday. they are only open during farmers markets on thurs and sat at the fb
went to 4505 meats this past saturday. great burger! video a couple posts up says it all. their chicharrones are a must! crunchy at first, then soft as a cloud. the taste is so different from your regular store bought chicharrones. sorry for the horrible pictures. it started to rain a bit and for some reason my wife's iphone didn't want to focus in.
going to l.a. this weekend. on the itinerary: father's office umami burger grill'em all soon i will be going to the fivetenburgers truck in the bay area.
We'll be in LA too! I got the Hatch burger at Umami Burger and thought it was only okay, everything was good, but I felt the actual ground beef to be pretty lacking. They have nice burger-beer pairings though.
awesome! any special places you'll be at? other than king taco when at umami imma try the regular umami burger, see what i think. i am sure my brother and friend will get the more adventerous burgers, they always do. i like to get the "regular" burger first before trying the other stuff.
I've started a vegetarian diet, so we won't be at any of the regular haunts. Well knowing Shannon we'll probably go...
