Scroll down for finished figures. Some of you may have seen this on my flickr. But I thought I'd post up the next ghoul from Splurrt (still working on a name.) I thought I'd post it now, as I want to get some Executioners rolling out before I produce this guy, so it may take a while before I get around to resins. I know a ghoul in a robe isn't an original idea, but I was inspired by all the cartoon phantoms that have made life a little spookier, I thought the figure needed to be made. So I made it. He's about 4.5" with peg joint hands. Let me know your thoughts. (Sorry for the crappy pics. My camera broke so I've been using my cell phone.)
Re: New Ghoul this looks really well done! i was gonna do a similar toy based on this gif, but you beat me to the punch!
Re: New Ghoul Ha, thanks. Yeah, that's one of the many ghouls that inspired this guy to. You should still do one. A WKY ghoul would be pretty cool. I'll trade you a ghoul for a ghoul.
Re: New Ghoul My only question is when will it be done so I can paint one ! LOVE the size and the look, and the hands are awesome so creepy !
Re: New Ghoul Thanks guys. Hopefully it won't be too long until I get to these, just have to see how long it takes to get some Executioners rolled out first. Rich, I think of the Obake you've painted, and I think you'd do a killer job on these. Will definitely be hollering at you about painting some.
Re: New Ghoul ooh, groovy ghoulie joe. he looks like he'd make a good companion to the cure terror'n figures. good sculpting too, nice and smooth-like.
Re: New Ghoul Thanks guys. Ok, one more shot. Uber- I deffinitely imagined him going well with Terror'ns. Here's another one he'd go good with-
Re: New Ghoul It gets better and better, will it have a face or just the cloak without a face ? Either way I'm real excited !
Re: New Ghoul Right now no face. I wanted that black faceless cartoon ghoul where you can't see into the robe. In the future, I'd like to do a release with a face plate - probably using a magnet to attach it, but I don't want to promise it anytime soon. You know how it is trying to do your own stuff while working full time. I only have so much time for Splurrt , and have so many other things I need to get to as well. A new head sculpt for the Executioner, and finishing Howlin' Harry to start with.
Re: New Ghoul Well keep it up, when you have a family of toys made you will be stoked. That said, I'm really excited for this particular character. So much can be done with a minimal design. You can paint on eyes, of add in doll eyes. or do nothing etc... I cant wait !
Re: New Ghoul Definitely, when I made this. I kind of saw it as the Splurrt platform toy. Once I have this guy and the Executioner made, I'd really like to see some painted by the customizers on this board. I'll probably try to do some cheap blanks for customizers, maybe even try to organize a small custom show if there's interest. Anyway, A few things on the hands were bugging me, so I did some retouching on them this weekend. Here's the final sculpt revealed.
Re: New Ghoul I would add folds to the front of the robe to give it some texture unless you're putting something there. Looks good though and the hands turned out awesome.
Re: New Ghoul Just saw the first resins from MonstreCliff. I think they turned out great and couldn't wait to show them off.
Re: New Ghoul I think the clear hands on the white one makes me like it more than the black. Their both awesome though!!
Re: New Ghoul I love this toy! The cleanness of the lines as your eye moves around the the figure, the empty hood, and the complexity of the hands, all work together to create a really amazing piece. I can't get over how "modern" the head looks http://artinvestment.ru/content/downloa ... yasuda.jpg MH did a great job! I would take both of them in a minute.
Re: New Ghoul Thanks everyone. I'm glad so many people are liking the figure. It was a toy I really wanted to see made and have in my collection. I'm glad people are making their own associations and connecting it to characters they've enjoyed. And MH really did do a great job, I couldn't be happier with the casts. The first release will actually be a red robe with clear hands.
Re: New Ghoul I am a big fan of this sculpt. I think a few might fall off the truck to joe and end up in my collection
Re: New Ghoul Hey you've got the molds and resin. No one would ever know. You won't get my magical newly developed airbrushing skills though.
Finished up the first wave of figures, and am very pleased with the turn out. I'm going to be putting them up tomorrow July 5th at 8pm (eastern) if anyone wants one. Just visit Splurrt for full release info and the link to the store. Hope you enjoy them, here are some shots.
