Awesome! I've got a weakness for haunted trees. This would be so sick in orange plastic like an old Halloween toy. Glad you went branch nose instead of hole nose.
i like it a lot. it'd be cool if you did a few different ones in various poses. how big is it? i also have an affinity for anthropomorphic trees. in second grade, i played a haunted tree in Snow White and the 7 Dwarves. all we had to do was stand there and change the large canvas between us to different pictures (thus showing snow's passage thru the forest). me and ian were too tall to be dwarves and they gave the mirror-on-the-wall role to the twin of the wicked queen. still bitter about that. btw, was at the dragatomi show yesterday and your welts and birdies looked very nice indeed.
My favorite part of many of the old Disney cartoons was usually the forest scenes. The haunted trees that grew into menacing monsters, or the dancing trees that pulled their roots out of the ground and danced a crazy jig. Love your "bad tree." It will look great alongside other figures.
Will this be cast by MH? I agree with the comments above. I really like the old haunted trees. Nice job pk.
Now i'm intrigued, i want to see one with a hole nose too. I must confess being from straya ive never seen a man in a foam tree suit. If it counts for anything I once got punched by a man in a donald duck suit? i didnt think so, but i digress... maybe a zip up the back showing the dudes undies?
Revised. Decided to go more with the hallucinatory aspects wood takes sometimes. Plus made him easier to cast.
Maybe we need an army of tree monsters? Final version. Made him a bit more Hermit crabby like. Added a bit of height too so he blends in well with my other mini figs.
Very cool. I watched the Wizard of Oz again the other day and was actually thing to myself how the haunted tree costumes (and many other 'effects') blew away any of today's CGI through the superiority of imagination over technology. And I agree - make more than one version. You need a grove of these suckers.
What a great grouping Paul. They all work so well together. Really hoping we can see all of these get made. Always liked the guy with the staff. The mushroom mini is pure fantasy.
Oooh, a fighting mushroom! Too cool! Love the trees too. I instantly flashed on the tree in Wizard of Oz throwing his apples at the Tin Man, and then to some fading memory of bad rubber suit tree men in some Sid and Marty Kroft show or other. Keep on sculpting!
Looks fantastic Paul, i can imagine a whole forest of these with assorted kaiju in their natural habitat. Can i put in a vote for a 'magical' dark clear green with glitter 3 pack release
