Grimace reveal. Going on sale Friday, Jan 25th at 10 AM PST at http://www.stolleart.com/store. Limited to 10 pcs. and retails for $120. Thanks everyone! -S
That packaging is thinking outside of the box. Love it! I'm saving my shekels for these upcoming releases.
Haha as a fat kid I take my junk food mascots seriously. Grimace is matte and doent have a gold tongue and eyes. Its the difference between a Ruby and an Apple.
Just a reminder that Grimace will be released this coming Friday morning. Also, there's more Deadbeet news coming very soon including exclusives and upcoming releases. Very exciting! Thanks for the support guys. -Scott
the pic looks solid black with glitter?? so is it going to be clear or solid black with glitter? any options for plain vanilla solid black?
i just got some of the 1.75" minis in yesterday, theyre so tiny! (smaller than i expected) but i started painting some yesterday.. will post the finished ones here its crazy how much detail is on that small of a figure..
Yeah, the small versions are nicely sculpted. I have a couple and they're pretty cool. Now I just need to get a big beet someday.
4 pages of comments and none of them on spot. This toy sucks and doesn't belong here. Not in this thread, not on this board. (Like soooooooo many others) How is this unlike any of the platform fodder being slung at KR. There's no real detail to the thing, no attempt at a creative paint application, no back story or anything else related to it. It just "is" and that aint good enough! You guys and ladies are not trying! This board has become far too lenient and passive. I read posts from people pleading for us to be objective (sorry Frank ). Yet there's no need to be objective over this stuff. A turd is a turd. Why waste time discussing it. But... I'm an artist (who isn't)! It was made in Japan (who cares)! I want you all to love me (we don't)! Go back Kozik Island and die
agreed^^^ the packaging of the one toy may look grimacy but the toy does not reflect grimace at all! I also hate beets so this was yucky from the get go
Personally, what I think of as a kr "platform" toy is a toy that usually has basic shapes and with no defined face sculpt. That way, many artists just paint various faces with various expressions and styles and such. This sculpt has a sculpted and defined face with other details thrown in, so you can't really paint a different face on the figure. It might be difficult to see all of the detail in this sculpt with the blanks and some of the paint apps, but from what I see there are details in this sculpt. This toy might not "fit in" with a lot of the kaiju on these boards, but it certainly fits in more here on SB than on KR in my opinion. It is a sculpt of a beet monster (beet kaiju if you will). I do agree with you about the backstory. I would like to see/read a backstory to this character, which would make the beet even more enjoyable. I obviously don't think this toy would be a lot of people's cup of tea, but I personally like it. I would really like to see one painted up to mimic the colors of an actual beet with green leaves and whatnot. ***** edit ***** Sorry about that, I forgot that there was a "backstory" to this character : Of the convulsive primordial instinct the earth has held secret from man; None is more inclined to writhe with specific ancient hatred of the oblivious pink mammals than organic matter that has sprung eagerly from wet black soil. The crawling beings, the roots, the vegetation and tall hoary beasts that walk unsuspected are all but weapons and silent planning assassins of the human element that so ignorantly sits waiting. Waiting for the unnatural evolutionary turns that were engineered to react to human kind and all its selfish design… natural evolution in the form of some unsuspecting twisted thing that rises menacingly from below the ground to take back what once was never meant to be lost. To take back the very earth itself. Behold, a black root. -Skinner
