A saw another of those Bandai sets before, but after Diceone's comments, decided to pass on it. I guess it's fine if the price is right, but I prefer the larger, less cutesy figures. Oh, also, I think the seller's description was being a bit generous. As I recall these figures aren't quite that large, 3" might be pushing it, these are definitely 'mini' scale, just so you know what you are getting.

Yeah, i suspected they might be smaller - that's why i asked. Thanks for clarifying that . . .

I much prefer the larger, less cutesy figures as well, but these Chibi versions will do for starters :)
    I got 'em cheap anyway . . . .

Wow, that translated Manga on the web is dope.
Def making that into a iphone album.

But, as always if you do enjoy it, please go buy Shigeru Mizuki's works. Even if they aren't translated.

And yes, "Onwards Towards Our Noble Deaths" is an incredible read.
    BUY IT!

That is a set of finger puppets, average about 2 inches high on them. There is a ton of other 90`s Kitaro stuff too, some of it is pretty cool.

And if you are just getting into Kitaro, please try to find the Hakaba KItaro series that came out a couple years ago, its much closer to the original story and not intended for kids.

Got this bad boy recently - i only noticed when i got him in the post that his horn (center forehead) is painted blue when it should actually be red like his face.
I've seen enough pics online to know the whole run has been done like this . . . . I'm tempted to scrape off the paint on the horn . . . . hmmmm, not sure :?

Also - does anyone know his name in english?

That guy is so awesome. Leave the paint alone! You don't want to screw up and take off too much.

Yeah, you are probably right . . .
Someone on flickr answered my question about his name:

    Shu no Bon (朱の盆) :)

i would have to agree on leaving the paint alone. Looks perfect just the way it is.

Oh man, that is one of the BEST figures.
    GREAT SCORE!

Shu No Bon means the Red Plate, or "dish".
I guess he has a big over-sized flat lower lip like a plate....

Damn that is one of the BEST BEST BEST of the whole line! NEED IT!

This is something I've got, it's not sofubi but it's pretty cool. When you turn the head, his eye turns suspicious and his hair-spike stands on end. He has a shoe kicking action and he plays the theme song from GeGeGe no Kitarō when you press the button in his back. He comes equipped with an ocarina and his tiny father , which sits in a little bowl.

I also have the figure of Medama-oyaji (his father), it repeats what you say, and the recording can be sped up or slowed down.

This is a set I got from a local toy-shop back in the mid 1990's. The figures are a touch on the cute side, but I think they're still pretty cool little vinyl dudes.
