Re: New Kappa Ceramic Figure.......... and Spider Squid
Not gonna lie - they still creep me out a bit! (Very arachnophobic here.) But they also rule hard! The glaze applications are beautiful. I love the front-right...probably because the red spot is pulling my eyes away from the spider legs! The black one is spectacular, but also the one that creeps me out the most. And I love the yellowish line bisecting the front-left. Thanks again for letting me hang out and watch you work on piecing one of these guys together!

Re: New Kappa Ceramic Figure.......... and Spider Squid
What a beautiful work!! Just stunning. I'm particularly loving the yellow one. Although you made an arachnid-cephalopod hybrid, it looks a lot like a yummy crustacean.

Re: New Kappa Ceramic Figure.......... and Spider Squid
Thanks for the feedback. Im very excited about making these. Once I get a few Kappa and other trinkets finished up I'll post buying/trading info. They are a tad over 9 inches tall, much smaller than the Kappa.

Thanks for the size info. Is the finish on the Blackish-purple 1 similar to the finish you did on the zombie hands?

Re: New Kappa Ceramic Figure.......... and Spider Squid
Maybe it shouldn't be so surprising, but I'm amazed how much the glaze resembles classic vinyl paint jobs. Some of it must be airbrushed. But moreso, it seems like you've reproduced the economy of colors and use of colors to highlight the sculpt that you see in those classic kaiju toys. Great work!

animator wrote: Thanks for the size info. Is the finish on the Blackish-purple 1 similar to the finish you did on the zombie hands? Nope, its a black underglaze with clear matt over and purple highlights. blakewest wrote: Maybe it shouldn't be so surprising, but I'm amazed how much the glaze resembles classic vinyl paint jobs. Thanks! yah I airbrush all my pieces. There are unfortunately allot of colors that are iffy. I need to find a more compatable green specifically. Im thinking to sign and number these as well. They will be limited but not to a specific number. Typically no more than 100, 150 if the mold can handle it.

Re: New Kappa Ceramic Figure.......... and Spider Squid
Finally have some Kappas to show! My original plan of having the head and arms articulated was scratched as I didnt sculpt the arms in a way that would allow firing them individual. In the end they arent toys so Im not bumbed by it. Kappa Koopa Troopas took a bit of time Ive also scratched the new website. We had a lofty goal of offering a ton of shit on it but Ive got my hands in a lot of different projects and just dont have the energy. So I'll be listing all the new figures on the Munktiki website some time next week! It will be a very soft debut though with just 4 Kappa. More will be made though
