| Post subject: | Gara-case shots |
Just got my Gara-devoted Detolf put together. Had my neighbor remove/re-weld the shelf supports at custom heights, to accomodate the big guys and leave a shelf up top for smaller pieces. I also painted the top and bottom, the glass connectors, and the support rods with Rustoleum's "hammered metal" spraypaint (first a few layers of black, then a light, mottled misting of copper over that), and used black foam weatherstripping to close the gaps around the door-edges. This case is now set up to be displayed sideways- the door opens out from the right side. This allows me to display the big Garas with either one of their interchangeable arms (with the Detolf facing forward, it was only deep enough, front to back, to fit them in with the longer, bent-elbow arms, and even then they had to be slightly turned to one side). I have a lot of other pieces to put in here, but I wanted to start out relatively uncluttered...perhaps I'll update when I've got all the other Gara's (and Semi-Ningens!) crammed in. Also, I took some full-case shots, but they came out pretty dark; I'll have to re-shoot 'em before posting.
Thanks for looking! |

rhinomilk wrote: nice collection! who do some of them have a symbol on the chest? Thanks, Jeff! In Garamon's second TV appearance (Ultra Q episode #16, "The Revenge of Garamon"), there were actually two of this beast stompin' around, and each had a symbol on his chest. I've never seen a dubbed or subtitled version of the show, so I don't know whether they actually talk of what the symbols are; I've always assumed they were supposed to be receivers of some sort, as the monsters are remote-controlled by Semi-Ningen in that episode. The big Garys actually came with interchangeable diecut vinyl chest symbols you could apply, but I've never stuck 'em on... |

The Kaijuken version scares me. It's like a tough, besuited 80's dance club Garamon. I can smell the Drakkar Noir in his scales. That one and the Ultra Q Dark Fantasy version from a couple years back just stray too far afield for me. silent killer wrote: i like the lil red one by him too That's a Kaiyodo vinyl model kit, built up with the help of my sister and painted by yours truly back in 2000. Great kit...maddening to build (each of his scales is an individual piece- about 97 in all to trim and glue in place)! |
