Some quick picks taken with a LED leadlight for lighting. Electric Blue!!
It was amazing how this sort of coloured light drained the colour out of some of the pices I shot in this light.

I particularly like the Skullbrain image. I'm envisioning it output on super glossy photostock at 32" X 40" and hanging in my office! |

as a physics footnote, it doesn't really "drain the color" from the figures. the light source just doesn't provide the other colors to be reflected (ie, something that's "red" is just something that reflects wavelengths in the red portion of the spectrum and absorbs others) -- jake. |

Thanks all. HOTTROD - Camera is just a standard Canon digital. Few years old. Nothing out of the ordinary. I just set it up on a tripod and shot the figures on the dining table with a black backdrop and played with different lights. I try to take shots of all the figures I buy in a uniform way for insurance. Sort of proof I guess. Not sure it will work, but it is some sort of a record. Scud - Yeah, I knew what was happening but it's interesting how different lights work with each other and against each other as well as what the camera picks up. For instance the screen on the camera showed the figures in much of their colour when I was using the LED light, but when I looked at the actual shot, the figures had lost much of the colour and were pretty much blue. Cool effects can be had with this translucent vinyl. |
