Post subject:  Some recent art acquisitions Framed!!

Finally! I got a whole bunch of new art pieces i have acquired in the past year framed up and up on my walls.....so happy!! i'd slowly been selling off the old pieces just to make room so, once my murakami skatedecks come back from tap plastics, i will virtually have all new art in every room! yay!! i love new art to look at!

Above my bed, mr murakami:

In the kitchen, Tara McPherson:

Undecided where, probably in the hallway leading to the kitchen, Alex Ross:

Also undecided where, Paul Kaiju and Mark Nagata plus Toy!

and almost finished 2nd Monster portrait, GID Rangeas:

and a couple more to add but i didn't have light or room on the camera, will add later.

Very nice taste in art. And the Rangeas? I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a photo. Beautiful job.

I love your Murakami. I need to pick that print up someday. I picked up the LV stretched canvas over metal set he did at the MOCA Geffen opening but I still have always loved that print. Good taste man.

thanks! alladin sane, there is one currently going on ebay right now with a couple days left in it....wow! you have one of the LV canvas'? that thing is skyrocketing! can't even believe what a little ol' museum retrospective will do for one's career!

i was disappointed to see that the chio aoshima print i have always wanted took a sharp turn up in price. one went last month for around $1,700 on dabay and i had planned on bidding the one that is finishing up tonite only to open the auction a few hours ago to see that the damn thing is now approaching $5,000!! fuck! ahh well....

Nice pick ups. I love that murakami. The only thing I could afford is the postcard size of that one.

It's a take on 727. I've never actually seen that print with those colors.

Anyway if you google.. Murakami 727. It'll show up.

I think that one is called 727-272, IIRC it's a later homage to his own original. I have #12/300 of the original 727 print (along with TanTanBo and the Bacon pair), anyone know of a place to check prices on Murakami prints? I'd wondered if the museum show had affected his prices.

All great pieces. And I like how you varied up the framing. Having pieces like this really gives a house a whole different quality. Thanks for sharing.

thanks guys! yeah, i took a big chance with the frames this time....i'm generally a black frame, white matte kinda dude but i was feeling wreckless the day i went into the frame shop and everything was calling for something completely different....i wish you could see the paul kaiju frame closer, it has great texture! the mcpherson one i am up in the air about, it's almost too much. i picked it to pull the heart out more and then also echo the texture in the gloves & background, but i'm almost afraid it overpowers the artwork,, i can't decide.

damn! that chiho aoshima ended at $5,002 last night and someone immediately put one up with a buyitnow of $5,000 and it was sold instantly. afraid that one has sailed out of my grasp forever ;(

miami: yeah, i've been tracking a lot of murakami's prints over the past two years and the museum show has definitly affected his prices. they've more than doubled for the editions of 300, some as much as four times the sale price, depending upon which piece you have. the prices seem to be settling down now that the exhibition is over and probably reached their peak at Christmas time. though the sharp upswing on aoshima's one work "city glow" is something of a surprise. i have been wanting that piece forever and now when i have enough to buy it's gone into another realm. fuck!

oh well, just means i can now buy that paul laffoley i have been considering for the past two years ;)
