Rice Crisis continues...

I am currently shooting a documentary related to food security in our country---amidst the rice crisis.

Farmers from the rice fields of the Central Provinces of the North interacts with my Clear Zag.

Image

I am sending this from a remote area...

Limited access to internet---to be continued...

We visited a group of farmers in a remote town in central luzon---the road to the farmers were so bad, we had to ride this makeshift motorcycle-like transportation.

Its either this...or this...

The flipper in me (hehe) made me want to work out a cool deal.....

I approached a farmer and tried to pull off a trade: a cool clear zag vs a hardworking Carabao....

Image

Image

...he thought about it for about 5 secs....

Image

...then said ...NAH!

On this assignment, i prayed for just one miracle with my Zag....

Image

...AND THEN IT HAPPENED!

Image

Image

Now, only a miracle similar to 'zag walking on water' could save the plight of these farmers ....

Irrigation system plays an important role in planting rice. Now that we have a rice crisis, rice production could have increased if only the proper government agency did its part well...

These farmers a literally praying for rain---to have enough water supply for the planting season which has begun this month of June.

Image

The irrigation system failed in most part of the country so now, many farmers are left with pathetic water system---mostly makeshift water flows for their crops.

It was feverishly hot, the days we were shooting the documentary in the rice lands of Nueva Ecija.

Zag had to take a dip!

Image

Image

After that quick bath, we caught up with some farmers doing their rice harvest...

I just had to make them smile a little---Zag entertained them for awhile after that long day working under the sun....

I think this is the first photo of a toy that's actually made me laugh.

It looks like the Zag is throwing up the debris around him and smiling, much like a kid would in a pile of leaves.

Zags firebreath looks a little smokey, maybe spending all that time in the water messed up his skills.
