I'm sure I'm breaking some cardinal SB rule by posting pics of just one toy (well two) and there is even a pic of me but I'm so happy after chasing this grail for well over a year that I can't help it! I was awoken early this morning by the mailman ringing my buzzer to drop this off: ![]() ![]() ![]() Happy me prior to cutting this badboy open (just woke up): ![]() The story that went into how I acquired this is almost as amazing as this woo itself....... be-woo-tiful! (Sorry, couldn't resist). Congrats on scoring something you've been after. So you're going to tease SBrs with this, "The story that went into how I acquired this is almost as amazing as this woo itself......." and then leave us hangin'? Wouldn't we all appreciate a good toy chase story? |

leadster wrote: Wouldn't we all appreciate a good toy chase story? OK. So I had all but given up hope of finding this guy. Despite reading that there were 100 of these made, I figured no one would ever dare part with such a beautiful piece. Which for the most part is true. I've never seen one come up for sale. Anyhow.... evilrabbitry had pm'd me asking if I happen to see any Shikaruna Kobe Hobikon Bagun's for sale let him know. No problem, always happy to help a fellow skullbrainer. He had mentioned he saw a few. I began to wonder where he had seen a 'few' because I had only seen two. I began hitting all the various sites and then I remembered a certain shop. Sure enough there was a beautiful HP Bagun in purple. That was cool but what was below it REALLY interested me. There it was the Marmit Blue Painted GID Woo! I was speechless! There was three problems though. One I was completely broke. Two there was no way to order from the japan only site. Three NOTHING stays on this site for more than a few hours, day at most as most celga website buyers will attest too. First things first. I had to raise some cash, I just decided I had to sell the Biskup Calli's. Putting them on the bay would take too long, so I decided to put them up on that other 'board'. Only on this night the other board was completely down for repair. Just before bedtime I was able to get on it (after hours of trying) and posted them cheaply. Next I had to contact the shop in japan. I used a web translator to decipher the contact email info for them and asked very nicely if they would sell it to me, do they take paypal etc? I went to bed thinking if I never see this Woo again I did everything I possibly could to try to obtain it the one time it came up. Next morning I awoke to two emails. One from shop thanking me for my order and paypal instructions. I had till Nov 3rd to make payment. I almost fainted! The other was just an 'inquiry from the other board'. No sales. Determined to move them to the bay with my new sense of purpose of making payment (I'm not kidding when I say I literally have 0 cash) I got a break and sold one of the 3. I waited about another hour an then put them on the bay cheap and they sold before I went to work that day. Made payment to the shop in japan. Basically the perfect storm of events for scoring a grail.... |

Awesome week for toys... the Caveman is doing the farewell tour into a box tonight. Kinda said he was sick of the other two guys and all the little woodland plant-life creatures moving into his shelf apt. Really had it out with a giant Beralgon this morning so it's time to move... |

Congrats, Lixx! You've paid it forward countless of times I'm sure. Its destined to be yours. I was eyeing the excact same thing. Must have been something like 8 mths of nothing? But got distracted by SK when I saw it. After running through the threads, thought its most likely you that got it, true enough! Cheers! |

I try to help whenever I can....I don't know about destiny but when I hit "send"on that paypal payment it made all the hours spent everyday on the marmit YJA search, all the leads that went nowhere, and the minutes spent ogling everyone's flickr page that had one seem worth it. PS Everyone that is looking, there are 100 of these out there. Double the red eyed white one, double the clear painted, know that for some reason these things tend to pop in bunches. C. |
