I've enjoyed the recent YJA haul threads so much, that I thought I'd show some of my weird summer buys. Mostly from YJA, some not.
In front are a bunch of Marmit minis. These were bought blind-bagged, and I believe they're usually given out as lottery prizes at shows. Really love the sculpts on these guys- Mogera is particularly well done.
Behind those are a couple of unpainted M1 Antlar balloon blower toys. These are repros of the Bullmark toy. Normally they are given out as prizes, and there are a number of red and blue painted versions out there. The vinyl is super squishy, and a little oily.
To the left are these strange characters made by Marmit. They are called "Mobile Suit Gaba," which I suppose is a Gundam reference. These were sold at a recent Patchi-Summit in Japan, but have a 1998 date on the footstamp, so maybe they aren't that new. Kind of cool. They remind me of mechanical Moomin. There's a pink one too.
The orange thing in the bag is an unpainted Gazura from Dream Rocket. I think this one was a lottery prize from a show a few years ago.
Back, left, is a Denjin Dom in Ranba Ral colors. Denjin is a small sofubi company that produces and sells these giant Gundam vinyls at a few shows throughout the year. Being hidden in the back, it looks a little small, but this guy is easily 10-11" tall. Huge and chunky. There is a heat sword attached to its back that can be removed and held in the left hand. (Geeky footnote: This one gets my robot nerd juices flowing because the Ranba ver. Dom is a pretty obscure design- only seen in a video game for the PS2. I think this may be the only toy that was ever made of it- barring an errant trading figure or gashapon.)
And finally, back right is this handsome fellow:
Resura, a collaboration between Sunguts and designer Ken Matsuo- from way back in 2004! As an interesting note, it was produced by Sunguts but this first version only has Ken's stamp on the foot (later versions have Sunguts' stamp). He comes with a little comic book (cool!), extra hands and a whopping 12 points of articulation! The design is supposed to be a cross between classic kaiju sofubi and martial arts action figures.
So.. give Sunguts a chance! No one bought this even at $20. It's very well designed and a fun toy to twist and pose as he beats up on your other vinyls.
