We all have our favorite shelves and case sections, but I've found that due to the volume with which I acquire new pieces (nowhere near most of the guys here, but even a few new toys a month adds up very quickly), stuff I've owned for a while tends to get lost in the shuffle. Toys get pushed to the back of a case or moved to an low-traffic area of the room in order to give the new stuff more visibility. I sometimes forget what I have or just how nice the paint job on a particular toy I bought a few years back actually was... So, I've recently cleared an area next to my workspace to display one or two pieces I haven't admired in a good while. I've gotta admit, the practice has made me fall in love with some pieces all over again. Plus, during lulls in the production of figures on which I try and keep current or periods where I can't spend as much as I want on new stuff, throwing the spotlight on older toys almost feels like they are new acquisitions. Like I'm seeing them for the first time.

Anyone else do stuff like this?

I do, and you're right it is a great way to avoid falling into the latest hot toy craze. On a limited budget you're really only able to follow three maybe four brands/sculpts. To stay true to your focus you really need to find new ways to apprecieate what you've already acquired.

@o_a- those are awesome!

My fav shelves are right in front of my work desk. What I do is to shift the minis around to keep them fresh. Tried shifting the standard figures on a whim before but they just take up too much time, can't just undo like on the computer. LOL.

I have a rickety old wooden pedestal that I found in a throw out. It is mega weathered and split with all the old varnish flaking off and it leans horribly. Every other week I put one of my favourites up on there. Its pretty ridiculous. Sometimes I will throw a toy up on it and say, "no no, not pedestal worthy" and remove it.

How did you make those shelves you have above your desk? They are amazing.Were they made to order or store bought?

Those were made to order from acrylic. They were suppose to be for a project, but the design was changed so they ended up at home, LOL.
