Good idea to do this.....I understand my toys are covered under my home insurance policy. The have to be documented though.

Do you have a normal home owners policy or something special that added the toys onto it? From what I understand, possessions pretty much just have a set amount that you are covered for and if you have something like art that isn't valued like normal possessions then you have to get separate insurance for that.

When I talked to the agent, he said they would be covered under the existing policy and won't need a seperate policy. But now that I think about it, that was when I had only a couple HPs and no original art. I'm going to follow up and see what he says now....will get back to you.

@BobDuher If you don't mind, please share that information on the board. I think I'm in a similar boat to yours so I'd like know if it's necessary for me to look into something else.

@Joe/Waiting... I love the idea of documenting all the toys that you have even if they come and go. I've been thinking about doing this for a while but it seems obvious that it should be done. On one of my days off I will embark on that.

I am pretty sure you need a special "collections" insurance. In fact I once received a call from a board member who was pricing toys for an insurance company and needed ballpark values for them.

Maybe it was on here - or in the "real world" but someone mentioned a collections policy that was particularly good value from a specialist provider - but cant recall who.

My personal opinion is that insurance companies will try any way not to pay up...so I am skeptical about insurance (other than automobile)

These guys are legit and now underwrite their policies through Lloyd's of London.

They are at Comic Con every year.
