Just pulled my World of Springfield collection out last night - this was my first real foray into collecting and I went the completist route. Here's a bunch of pics of each character released - minus Smithers (where did I put him?). All the variants, dioramas and exclusives are still packed away. I'm missing three pieces to complete the series - the Toyfare GID Radioactive Homer, General Bart w/ Treehouse, and Ullman-era Simpsons w/ Living Room. I'll get them eventually, but because they're variants I'm not too concerned.
I remember when I first started collecting this line the Toyfare GID Homer was selling on eBay for about $100 - I thought that was crazy! Looks like I can pick that up for pretty cheap now though.

Sure do! Frank is behind the "school" grouping on the left side. Which THOH are you missing? I really love the first one (Devil Flanders, Homer Kong and Dracula Burns are such great sculpts!) and the one that provided us with Kang and Kodos.
Another favorite is Hank Scorpio.

complete here as well. When i move to a place with more space I'm going to get a cabinet devoted just to WOS so I can display all the playsets. My favorite playset has to be The Collectors lair with the Lucy Lawless figure. Only thing I'm bummed about not getting was an extra pinpals sticker for Homer, who never came with one.

That's it?

That's all you're bummed about?

I have a much longer list of gripes.

1. No Maude Flanders.

2. No Frogurt Guy.

3. No Carneys.

The list goes on....

Wah! Wah! Wah!

there was the mail in Cooder from the Bart Carny episode voiced by Jim Varney. I have all the playsets and most of the figures out. I still enjoy gazing at them from time to time.

I meant as far as what was released. I would have loved to have had a Stampy playset with Apu and Manjula in wedding clothes, or a boxing playset with Diedrick Tatum and Moe in Fan Man outfit.

Yeah, I'm really bummed there was no Drederick Tatum and Luscious Sweet. There's probably another 5-20 characters I would have killed for when they announced the end. But I gotta say, it was a huge relief when the line ended. Running to TRU all the time was a pain!
Were any of you guys on the Simpson's Collector Sector message board back when these were coming out?

PS - Uberboy - I'll go get that shot now!

Damn, great collection! Wish I had the money for all of these one day, but I know I never will, so I won't bother actually collecting them.

This stuff can be had cheaply these days. I bet you could get a full collection for what some people spend on a single Anraku figure!

Oh yeah, I've got that one.

It's the carney kid that didn't get made. That's why it bugged me, why make only one of the characters?

It's been so long, I almost forgot why I was pissed.

Just a quick tip for those of you with playsets in storage, take out the batteries!

They leak!

Yeah, Cooder without Spud is kinda weird. So many other "stand-alone" characters that coulda been done instead. I'm beginning to remember more and more characters I wish they had made: Akira, Lindsey Naegle, Cookie Kwan, Capital City Goofball, Very Tall Man, Mrs. Glick. There was something weird going on with Tress MacNeille and her voice-rights and that's why a lot of her characters didn't get made - but they made Agnes. Maybe that's all she would relent on?

Yes! Whenever I'd buy a new playset I'd carefully remove it from the package, if it had a non-variant character I'd pull that out then remove the batteries and then repackage the playset. The playsets really are a huge pain in the ass - they take up SO much space and don't display very well. I like the small Radioactive Man lunar base though - it's so much different than the others.
And glad to have met with such a high Carl Approval Rating! :D

Wow - I cant even get to my playsets, and they ghave batts in em...probably too late :(

My favorite figure is a custom I bought on ebay - naked Homer - made from the Relaxing (?) Homer figure in his underwear, but san underwaer and with realistic junk and a Simpsons style zig zag for pubes. He used to stand in the living room playset with family around him - duff in one hand donut in the other. Press the button and hear him say "everyone is stoopid - except me" - AWESOME!

A few weeks after I got him I met Matt Groening and Mark Hamill and tunred out they had followed the auction on ebay and were kinda stoked about naked Homer!
