€7.85 a piece, but seems like there are/were a handful floating around on american sites like entertainment earth. for $5-11. (Remember the days when finding something cool on holiday didn't come with the disappointment of knowing you could actually find it back home) They're only about 2.5 inch in size, so thankfully the cute factor doesn't drop my kaiju shelf cred. down to drastically. : ) |

I remember a loooooooooooooong time ago, you could buy a giant rocket for less than $100 usd. Can't seem to find it anymore (you can still buy a small resin version). I did find the giant version on a valuation site http://www.catawiki.com/catalog/figures ... ket-114-cm seems that it's now worth nearly 2000 euros!!! ![]() should've bought it way back when ![]() |

I saw those in the Tintin shop in London last year, very cool. I resisted buying any, I wanted them all! I spent my little wad of cash on some books about Herge |

The black and white boxes were originally distributed through Atlas, a mail order company that distributes Tintin merchandise and I'm guessing other B.D. Merch. The idea was that you order the books and receive a gift with each volume(monthly), in this case the small metal figures. They also did something similar with the metal vehicles from the Tintin books which were bigger and came on their own, you would get one a month .. They also do kits, one of the more recent was a big ship, as a sculpt and painted I think it sold for around 3grand at retail but through Atlas you could receive the pieces monthly and build it yourself for a fraction of the price. The coloured packages are Moulinsart's attempt at continuing the series through retail stores after Atlas stopped distributing them. New pieces are being made and they've also re released the originals and the vehicles all in new packaging. If anyone is interested give me a pm. I've got a contact with the official canadian distributor for the official Tintin merchandise. I'd be happy to offer a discount to all SB collectors. I can get all currently produced goods, including the iconic rocket. Most of the Tintin merchandise is numbered and highly collectible, the less expensive stuff is mass produced and the move to chinese production is more recent but the quality of production is still very high and the decision resulted in lowered pricing which is rare at the consumer level. The more sought after pieces will of course remain the originals but I'd recommend any Moulinsart's merch, the standards are high |

I wonder what the biggest size rocket is? There is a 42 cm version for sure. Nice diorama for that toy figure too! *if you're impatient, skip to 22 secs ![]() |

I know i was ... still have immense respect for his work and its importance in my childhood but there is certainly an unpleasant taint. Cool little bas-reliefs knick knacks BTW ![]() |
