I need to buy some more shelving and think I want to take a little departure from yet another Detolf. do any of you display any of your toys on open shelving/wall shelving? I know I've seen a pic here and there, but it seems like most people keep it all behind glass. those of you with some toys out, how often do you have to dust them? |

Yeah, I keep some toys on some open air book shelves and they are always dusty, and I like to think that I'm pretty clean. When I get some more shelving, I will probably be going the IKEA route but not the Detolf...they have alot of options where you can add various kinds of doors to the shelves. |

all my stuffs are out in the open. some are on shelves, some on top of door frames, some in my plants, even a couple homeboys next to my coffee grinder to say hello in the morning. they dont ever seem to get dusty, i guess from getting played with and moved around all the time. or maybe my girly girl dusts them when im not home. |

While I have one Detolf, almost all of my stuff is in the open on floating shelves or in an Ikea Expedit (open front and back). I dust a couple times a month (not a stickler for that kind of thing). This works fine for bigger figures, but it can be a pain in the a-hole with minis. A link to some pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/elword/255241039/in/set-72157594221970926/ (as I've promised myself that I wouldn't bombard people with my collection photos) |

I think the Detolfs are great because they give great visability to all your shit. The one thing I don't like about them is that everything has to be seperated into little cubes, I would rather have one case with long shelves. |

I've got several glass open shelves now. I like 'em cause I can see everything horizontal at eye level or higher as opposed to vertical in a detolf. dust is an issue, but I don't dust regularly. |

Most my stuff is free range and in a room with an air filter. I hardly have to dust stuff in this room. Stuff elsewhere I have to dust. |

i don't keep anything behind glass. they are all on open shelves. i use air dusters between more aggressive dusting sessions, keeps it under control. |

thanks for the suggestions I do like my detolfs, but I want to spice things up a bit. and also I have some larger figures to display (larger than fight figs), and 2-3 of them take up a whole detolf shelf aka a total waste of space. |

IKEA has a really cool set of shelves I have all over my office and a couple in the living room. They are basically a bracket you screw into the wall and slip a wooden shelf over. I remeber thre being two or three different sizes and a bunch of different finishes. They do get dusty but like Jackie - I just power dust them off. I have my fight figures, Sideshow Universals and my - ummmmm..... circus punks on them. |

I like putting selected stuff out for the week. Then I wipe them and then put them back into the cabinet... rotating with new ones for some fresh HK air (cough) and keep doing this weekly. This way I am hoping the colors won't degrade that bad and stops from getting mold in this humid air if I leave them stagnant for too long. |

I mostly use the Ikea floating shelves, but I just got some Detolfs for some of the smaller and more difficult to dust items.
