| Post subject: | Glass Display Shelves *PICS ADDED FOR THREAD VALIDATION |
I've picked up quite a few pieces in the last 2 months, running out of space and can't just leave them randomly placed in the apartment anymore (girlfriend bumped into my Futura Nosferatu, it fell to the floor and exploded into many pieces - that was the catalyst). The glass display cases I've seen online have been kinda junky - seen some nice ones in this forum so maybe you guys can suggest a source for them? Figures range from small SB to 15" Kaws, etc. Any info is much appreciated. Sorry I didn't post any pics here, but will once I get it sorted out... |

theres a lot of info and discussion about cases in "whatever" forum but yeah, most people use ikea detolfs or other ikea (although my own toys are free-range, and thankfully, not so fragile!! ^^) |

I say go for a Billy system from Ikea. They're a lot nicer and larger than Detolfs and you can swap in glass shelves, as well as adding a glass door, all for a very reasonable price. Detolfs aren't bad shelves, but, well, that's what nearly everyone seems to use, and there are limits to how you can use them for display. An even better route, I think, is to look for an old glass cabinet with character. That really makes a kaiju collection stand out. |

I gotta agree, the Detolfs are killer for larger pieces, but without a bunch of risers (or some other creative arrangement) smaller Kaiju can look a lil' lost. Most of my shit is in 3 x Billy bookcases kitted out with glass doors & glass shelving. The only downside are the doorframes obscure a coupla inches down the middle of each one. They are real flwxible though, with multiple shelf mounting points to work with any size figure. I'm rapidly running outta space for the Kaiju stuff though, so am looking at some kinda retail display case to fill an alcove in our den. |

Thanks guys. Can't believe I never thought of IKEA for inexpensive solutions...I'll see if I can find something older first, with a bit of character. To make this thread valid here's some quick shots of the last few weeks haul (I'm pretty much screwed now, there's no end in sight. Funny how SB is the gateway drug into other stuff like Gargamel, Real Head, etc)...

not to expensive in price...........but the shipping!?!!?!?! I tried to place an order for 1 of the Bertby Wall Displays, and my freight shipping was more than twice as much than the price of the display case itself. I could easily buy a store display case for that much money. Any other suggestions or websites where to buy nice displays cases? Does anyone know where the tall Glass door Displays at Super7 came from?? |

i use a china cabinet. it fits in well with the other furniture we have in our living room. it originally had glass cabinet doors on the front but they came off easily. it has the bottom section where you can store any packaging and other stuff and mine has its own light in the top. check out local thrift or goodwills, they tend to have these. plus you can build risers out of stained wood and they dont look out of place and they're cheap to make! quick pic (yes my christmas tree is still up. its a valentines tree. at least thats what we tell the kids.)
