Post subject:  KaijuZoo Bullmark Mogera

While the concept of this commission was to pay homage to the original Bullmark paint application styling, this project nonetheless tugged on my emotions about whether to paint such a rare figure. In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and my client is very happy with the results .... as am I !! I do feel very honored to have been selected to add some extra character and soul to such an iconic original unpainted figure.
So what do you think?? What would Godzilla do? ;-)

... from ClubTokyo 5/15/2007 ... I finally completed my three Anguirus kits - that's THREE sets of spines, all hand painted as it is impossible to airbrush two-tone paint that close. Whew!!!

So anyway, my three clients have already seen the final pics so here is a sneak peek look for the list (I am still working on finalizing the web page).

Greetings,
As noted earlier in this thread, I am sure some of you remember the Series 7 KaijuZoo Marmit Anguirus '68 exclusive from last spring. At that time, I was able to obtain ONLY three kits from Japan and there was subsequent disappointment from collectors to find that they had been quickly sold out. Well, I found out just this week that Marmit will be reissuing the Anguirus kit for next April so I am planning on ordering a few more of them. Pricing which includes the kit, shipping from Japan, supplies and labor would be $225 and paint styling would be like the movie version shown below in the first KaijuZoo release.

To help gauge demand for the second-phase Marmit Anguirus '68, can I get a show of hands here or via email in who would be interested in placing a preorder for a commission?

And looking back though the projects I've completed this year, I want to say many thanks for your supporting my "3-dimensional kaiju artistry" !! Have a great holiday season and best of luck in the New Year !!

Post subject:  KaijuZoo Exclusive Series Announcement - X-Plus Gargantuas

I just got in a huge box last week with the six big X-Plus Gargantua Gaira and Sanda kits. The kit detailing and quality of the sculpts are pretty fantastic. As noted earlier, they will become a KaijuZoo exclusive series (set of both figures) and painted up in the movie version styling.

Post subject:  KaijuZoo 100th Completed Commission - Atelier GMK Godzilla

Over the past six years, I have been busy creating what I refer to as my "3-dimensional kaiju artistry". And I have now just arrived at the anniversary of my 100th completed KaijuZoo exclusive or custom commission !!!

So I'd be pleased if you would take a look at #100, the 16" tall evil and sinister Atelier GMK Godzilla built-up kit.

The obvious thought and intention you put into your customs is quite endearing. You can really tell you have love for this work.

Wow, that is about the nicest compliment I've ever received, thx so much !!

And yes I do love creating my artistry. Often, as I am spraying on some of the final colors on a project, I actually get goosebumbs as I see my vision come to life, it is such a kick!

Post subject:  KaijuZoo West Kenji Icy Blue GMK Godzilla

I have about 5 different projects underway but wanted to take a moment to share this just completed commission: the ghostly Icy Blue West Kenji GMK Godzilla. My client conjured up the idea of a ghostly apparition of Godzilla using the two basic colors to create the effect. The sculpt started as black opaque vinyl and now has a metallic pearlescent finish which almost appears translucent due to the effect of the overlapping spray coats of the two colors.

Nice work, Jonee!

The GMK Godzilla has always been one of my favorite G suits and this West Kenji vinyl is pretty cool, not to mention huge. The paints on this custom blend beautifully.
Looking forward to seeing the Billiken Mecha G you're doing for me.

Thanks much, yes the various GMK Godzilla sculpts have been very popular, so far I have completed SEVEN different commissions using a GMK figure!!

And continuing the earlier discussion on our exciting commission from the other SkullBrain thread, here is the completed webpage for your KaijuZoo Billiken MechaGodzilla '75, showcasing its weathered & battle-damaged look and a shimmering "space titanium" iridescent metallic appearance as seen in the film.

Alrighty then, here are a few sneak peek photos. I am proud to present Gaira and Sanda from the cult 1966 Toho kaiju film "War of the Gargantuas". But in communications with my clients, I've been calling this project "War of the 10,000 Brush Strokes" due to the incredible amount of time spent building and painting these ten vinyl kits!!

I still need to apply the matte spray sealer and then take some final pictures for the webpage so will post more pics later, just wanted to give you all some sneak peeks!!

These are beautiful! I just watched this movie (again, first time in awhile) last week and have a renewed appreciation for the Gargantuas. Your customers should be thrilled!

This reminds me of going to hobby shows with my dad when I was little. All this great stuff, and I could never figure out why my 10 year old paint skills couldn't be as good as the stars' and master-level cats' paint jobs. The old man would just chuckle and say that it took lots of time, lots of patience and concentration on building up skills. I was 10 or so, so I didn't get it.
Really amazing paints and restore work!

Hey, just got back home from a long holiday trip so many thx for the props, guys! The first two KaijuZoo Gangantuas sets are now with their new "thrilled"' owners, and another set ships later this week. While I am still working to piece the series webpage together, here is a nice battle-pose pic which includes the custom-made display base.

Post subject:  Combining Toys and Comic Books - KaijuZoo Ditko Gorgo

I recently completed a cool commission which involved a lot of coordination and collaboration with my client. Every one knows about Godzilla and some collectors know about the British version Gorgo, a film released in 1961. Everyone also knows about the Japanese toy company M1 (M-Ichigo) but not everyone knows that they released a two figure set of Gorgo in 2002. Lastly, Charlton Comics had a series of comic books for Gorgo starting in 1961 with many of them drawn by the famous artist Steve Ditko. Here is what happens when you combine these items as a tribute to the character, the toy manufacturer and the comic artist!

Here is the KaijuZoo Gorgo Ditko Tribute webpage for more pictures and details as well as this swell book about Steve Ditko and his Gorgo artistry.
