Post subject:  Creative Circus Art Show

My Company puts on a talent show called the "Creative Circus" for its employees to show off their other creative talents (the things they don't do on a regular day by day basis). This year, as tradition has had it, there were four categories, a talent show, culinary cook-off, art show, and side show acts. I decided to enter the art show with some of my sculptures. A lot of these sculpts were inspired by my Pickled Drawings, mad balls, and Japanese art. This was the first time that all of these had been shown together in one place. Here are a few pics of my pieces in the show. (The blurred out images are custom platform based toys, that aren't really appropriate for this board..........)

To go along with this "Creative Circus", the agency has a Poster Design contest. This contest is usually pretty open to whatever you want to create. Here is the design I illustrated this year. It was a three level poster, and the "hypno disc" behind the clown head was hooked to a motor so it would turn.

By know we know you're not a hack, therefore I don't think there's any need to blur some of the pieces out.

The clowns were created before I really knew who he was......... In the back of my mind when sculpting the clowns was the art from Piranha Press comic "Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children" by Dan Sweetman.

Great work and thanks for the respect of not showing the munnys or whatever they are but I think you can post pics of whatever you want around here without fear of reprisals.

You are one of the exceptions that prove the rule.

What are the original sculpts made out of?

Thanks for all of the compliments everyone!!!

Pogue, the original sculpts are made out of Super Sculpey and various other things such as aluminum foil, ping pong balls, red bull can, glass beads, pins and fishing line. Also, there is a lot of grey primer, acrylic paint and clear acrylic finish.

I thought that it was best that I did not show the custom platform toys I made...... by showing that kind of thing here on the board, it would only fuel others to post that kind of crap. It is good to have a separation of these things....... I originally did those customs for a couple of shows that I was asked to participate in..... as always with these kind of things, the shows either didn't happen or they were so poorly ran that I was afraid I wouldn't have not gotten the custom back or knowing my luck it would have sold and I wouldn't have gotten paid....... so that is why I still have them. Maybe someday I will post them for sale on the KR board. Hopefully some kid with rich parents would take them off of my hands. :)

SmorkinDoobers, I work for a marketing/advertising design agency: The Integer Group. I primarily work as an illustrator/designer, though I amusually called on to play the role of Art Director.

If anybody wants to see actual pics of the platform customs, they are deep within the pit of my blog.

Thanks again everybody!!!
