Seriously man.

Can I see a before pic ??

Manimal, you asked for us to give you some critiques. Now ,come on dude you have to put in a little more work. Spraying black over purple and calling it another name is very lazy.

If you want to grow you have to take you time think out a totally new color way and execute it.

I have gave you advise and love to help. But come on man you have to give a liitle more.

Now go acetone it ALL THE WAY and start over with all new colors. Take your time and finesse a color a day. Even I usually don't finish a fig in one sitting.

i thought a month ago people told me to stop wasting toys and to paint a toy over and over as practice to execute different ideas? now i finished this idea the way i like it and i get flack? what gives cause at this point im confused - im tired of listening , tryin to do it all in a way to please everyone - im convinced that no matter what i spray - some will love and some will hate - so be it.

that franken bee i posted is this exact bee - was gonna do purple eyes.....i never layed down the purple - what you saw before was silver black and green - i sprayed the head to finsih it today - what gives this wasnt finished in one sit?

you could try to fill it with tiny jigsaw puzzle pieces

then pull that theme to the surface with the paint application somehow

Post subject:

the belly is already filled with a puzzle and im not really lookin to do jigsaw piece themes all over this

I think what LASH was saying is that you took an existing custom of yours and just did a bit more. Yes, you should continue painting the same figure over and over again until you get good. But each time you re-paint the figure you should acetone it so it's blank rather than reusing your existing paint job from a previous custom.

right but LASH was wrong cause i never finished what he thought I had finished

this was still in transition - last color to add was purple and I went black instead - i dodnt finish a paint job then add black and call it ANOTHER paint job

I have never seen your other stuff but this piece for me is weak and the puzzle piece is random like it got stuck in there somehow and you couldn't get it out so you were like ehhh whatevs. I know nothing of painting kaiju or technique, just know what I like. From graf I do know about overspray and on edges like where feet meet pants or hands meet sleeve, overspray does not look chill.

From reading it just seems like this isn't solid. Find a solid piece of inspiration or get a mental concept, spray the colors on paper or sit them together, see how they go, decide which to use sparingly, ya know shit like that. The piece looks rushed, not thought out and random. The base color is nice to start work on and at least you are spraying your own stuff and posting it to deal with the critics.

How would anyone suggest masking this stuff? have pics of a masked figure you have made?

Or you could just say screw it all together, get two colors of paint and drip it on the figure and call it a handpaint, if it works for Hiddy it should be good enough for anyone

the best tape for masking is tamiya masking strips... comes in a variety of widths, and comes off clean. You should be able to get it from a well stocked hobby store, or from some online vendors. It's really the best stuff.

ok i will go track that tape down - thanks for that tip

You could be cheap with the masking tape and use the blue masking tape that house painters use. I've used this on many projects in my college years and it's never let me down. It can be a little tricky to use.

The advantage of the Tamiya tape over other kinds of masking tapes is the width/narrowness of the Tamiya tapes makes it SOooo much easier to bend it around curves. You don't get any tape buckling around curves with the thinner Tamiya tapes that you'll get with really wide standard masking tape. It IS cheaper to use standard masking tape, but it's a hell of a lot more frustrating to use. :D

Manimal, Dude if you like it, and it came out the way you wanted, and it's "from the heart" ENJOY IT. It's yours and yours alone :D I took alot of shit for my Pirate I did in a Metallica theme, but it is my favorite piece, 'cause i did it. I didn't do it to sell or to put in a show or to show off my painting skills (I have none) I did it for me, and thats all that counts 8)
