yo yo, not really a customizing topic but.. I got a wobbly footed kaiju and i know that people use hairdryers to pop arms, etc into joint but i was wondering if you could use a hairdryer to maybe fix a foot so it sits flatter. I know the vinyl will soften but will it hold its new form? Are there any tricks to doing something like this? bryan |

I've tried this before to fix the foot angle on a cople of SB obakes, since they seem to be a bit tip-prone. it holds for a while but tends to eventualyy slump back to where it was before the hairdryer. I've heard someone say that they used gently boiling water to soften the vinyl up, and then hold the foot/leg in the angle they wanted. Something about the really hot temp caused the vinyl to become more rigid after it cools and lesss likely to rebend. But again, that'second hand, I've not done it myself. |

I've found that after bending the piece into the right position, pouring cold water fixes it right away. |

I use boiling water on my Smoking Corps guys. Dip them in for a bit then bring em out and bend the legs to the angle you need and run them under cold water after that. Works a treat, but I do think that after awhile the memory in the plastic still comes back and they are a little wobbly again. Not to the degree the figure was in at first though. Watch getting water into any joints and inside the toy. Might cause problems there!! |
