This is all Frank's fault. I got my giant zag and just kept looking at him and looking at him and then i thought, man, i would love to wear this thing on my back all over the city, so, i sat down and put the big guy on paper....first with a nice photo, then a drawing (my avatar is a small version from this session), then gridded over and colors assigned to particular spots, then the needle, thread and some beads!!

Voila! i'm very happy with the result. now i got to do a cool background for him. tell me what you think. i've never seen beaded kaiju before...
ps...he's in rough form right now, i won't go back and do the clean up until the whole thing is finished, at which point all the little threads sticking out everywhere will be trimmed and glued.

You should go with the pink and purple background. I know you love color and that seems to suit it well. The green is a nice pattern but it makes the zag look darker.

wow, nice work. At first I thought it was made out of pixel blocks which have a similar look, but beads are much cooler.

one thing i neglecterd to tell you is that they don't make beads in those colors at the size i am using. the reasons are complex but they all essentiially boil down to the fact that brilliant colors, such as fushia, capri blue, crimson, tangerine, etc just don't hold up well in the 8/0 size. the ones you see in those colors at size 11/0 are usually dyed or plated and they all wear/rub off over time, leaving you with a very dull finished bead over time, so i've been rethinking his background and i'll probably go with this, or dsomething close to it.

Very interesting and beautiful work. I am a beader myself, and have done some elaborate and time consuming peyote stitch projects, but never using such a modern theme. Inspiring!
