Has anyone tried mixing clear gid paint with regular colors? Will the gid come through, or will the color of the paint obscure it. In theory it seems that it would work, but asking here before I try it |

No idea, but from a somewhat educated guess: The darker colors probably won't work well, but the key I think is the consistency of the paint. It would probably be best to try to tint or "dye" the GID paint (hopefully thicker stuff) w/ the least amount of product that has the highest pigment concentration you can find. |

it'll jack the gid paint. gid paint is iffy on most counts, and if you do anything to alter it, thin it, tint it, whatever, it messes it up. rumor has it you can dye gid vinyl, but i've heard even that affects the light output |

The GID I'm using is a VERY VERY light yellowish color, with the consistency just a little thicker than water. I airbrush with waterbased enamel, and acrylic paints, as I own a condo, and have no other choice than to paint inside. Have experimented with this tonite (mixed with black) and it does glow, but very faintly. I am going to increase the amount of GId to paint & see if I can get better results. BTW, Blueboy, my Balzac Skullman was painted with metallic blue enamel, and the paint sticks to vinyl just as well as any other paint I've used.
