this is heavily modeled after the Medicom Skullbat sculpt, but many other photos were used for reference

im sorry i wrote a book about it but iv been working on it for much longer then it should have took and im excited its finally done(ish)!!!
this all starts when i first started really getting into balzac a few years ago, i fell in love with the skullman and i went on a search for his face to appear, i loved the short horror movies and videos and images and everything, but i wanted to see his face in a video! and i found out it didn't happen. so i thought about making a mask of it myself and making a mini horror film featuring the bagman just for fun. neither of which things i have ever tried before. then as usual i got really lazy and i did nothing. i finally saw balzac for the first time and after that show i met the guys and i commented on some leatherface mask they had that i could see in their van, and with that they showed me a skullman mask! they said a fan had made it and given it to them as a gift, later i found out that atomagedevilman had made it (mad props!) and slowly but surely it gave me the ambition to go and take a shot at making my own mask. i had always wanted to make a mask but i had never seen anyone else really make one, i knew there were kits and all that but i had never seen results, having seen one in person (not some factory reproduced thing) it really gave me the drive to try. i got the kits id always seen and i started sculpting. this took a really long time because i procrastinate like no other, especially with projects. the thing probably took somewhere around 48 hrs to complete over the span of a year. then i started thinking about casting it and how i had broken a bunch of rules when it came to sculptures thata re to be cast, like undercuts and thin deep crevices. so it took me even longer after completing the sculpt to mold it in plaster since once you do that, your sculpture is destroyed. as soon as that was done i got right to pouring the latex, which took a while since i wanted to make this thing really thick so it wouldn't be flimsy. it then dried for a few days, i peeled it out scared to see what id find , and it turned out almost perfectly! i then procrastinated more, and finally began painting it. i started with an airbrush which is something iv never used before, i borrowed my brothers and had no idea what i was doing but managed to give the white and black a rough base coat, then painted the detail by brush. im pretty happy with the results, i hafto give the white a refresh coat and then give the whole thing a clear coat and give the eye a gloss. my original idea was to cut the skeletal parts out and glue them on one of those rubber bondage masks, to give him the most streamline round head, trying to go for what i thought it might look like in person but after pouring using the latex for the first time it doesn't seem like that will be possible with how hard it is to cut cleanly. so it seems like he wont be getting horns because i cant make em fit right on what i have here alone. im a little bummed my original idea wont come to light (or should i say darkness) but im pretty happy with the end result!
