Yeah, the paint job isn't the greatest but it's all about experimenting and trying different stuff. Obviously it didn't work and hurts most of your eyes... but whatever. I'm not gonna try a new style on an valuable and expensive piece. Thanks for all the kind words and constructive berating. |

here's some constructive criticism: the koi colors on the white are too strong. they need to blend a little more onto the "skin" of the figure. the white too seems a little heavy-handed on the paint. I'd strip this guy and try the koi painting over on just the milky figure. |

Locomoco wrote: wow... you guys are brutal... I would have to agree... practice makes perfect and everybody has to start somewhere, these harsh remarks will either push Neb5 away for good or only make him stronger. This type of criticism is exactly what he needs to make the proper adjustments to his style and approach when posting his work on this particular message board. It's a safe bet that he worked really hard on all of them in hopes of impressing some of us so give the guy a break already... keep pushing Neb5 and it will happen sooner or later... I can't paint shit so at least your giving it your best shot and trying to do something unique, might want to stay away from the resin though... |

Ok, something constructive - don't use paint pens. Or if you must, they should only be for small details like pupils or something like that. Paint pens were made to make pep-rally posters to put in school hallways, not to put a quality paint job on a vinyl figure. Criticism can only be as refined as what is being criticized. |

Well for perspective...I've seen some REALLY fugly looking koi with crazy spots all over...possibly a reference to that type, if so not bad I guess, not the pet that I want to own but everyone's got their own taste |

Hmmm... I think even that one has too many spots on it... Koji's killers are the benchmark for me. |

This paint job is much more koi-like than Koji's--not saying I like it better, but it is a more accurate rendition of what a koi looks like. |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... go_koi.jpg Koi can have large or small spots, can be almost entirely black/orange with very little white showing, or other colors entirely. This is the only wonderwall thing I have and I love the milky white vinyl. Regardless of the size of dots/pattern, I agree it would look better sprayed without the white undercoat. I'd practice on paper to refine the pattern first. |
