Take a month off from the board and explore other things. Maybe go to a museum for inspiration. See if they have a Japanese collection of art. Or maybe a Modern collection. |

i'm going to the beach in a couple weeks... that could help - just a chance to sit and think and read or whatever. but that's kinda all i do now my job is pretty miserable in terms of creativity. it has ruined my design and portfolio, but they have me with the golden handcuffs. |

Maybe do something in a totally different medium from what you normally work with...and opposite of what you are chained to at work...might help you break out of a mental routine a bit... Best of luck with it!! |

pickleloaf wrote: they have me with the golden handcuffs. well...i guess you like that kind of stuff I think most of us that paint keep a box of unpainted figures. For me, an easy way to get out is to paint a tribute figure. It takes enough creativity to get me out. I never really post them cause the end up getting stripped. Some I do keep but most are painted into something else. Another thing I do is look at different figures either in my collection or on the board and try to figure out how things are done. Museums and galleries don't do it for me cause I get clogged with everything that I've seen...sort of an overload...then I just veg in front of the TV or the computer. |

Thats funny that you mention that because I just bought a bunch of stuff I have no real plans for just in case... =) gatchabert wrote: For me, an easy way to get out is to paint a tribute figure. Museums are ok, but I don't go to them for inspiration. I do tribute figures if the idea really strikes me, but usually I try different ideas/colors out on paper before I paint. Occasionally I just go in without any idea what I want, but that is rare. Sometimes I like to impose conditions/rules to something I work with- like "only these colors" or "has to implement a new technique" or whatever- and by forcing myself to work within the confines of the condition it brings out creativity. I like mashups too. I've got to get my hands on a Solid Chaos for an idea I've been wanting to try for a while now. Just keep trying pickle- something will click. You too Rhinomilk. |

I think all that paint at some point will go through this, its pretty common. It will pass though thats a fact for sure. For this reason I keep a huge folder of customs that have been done by others to inspire me. You just have find that one artist / artists that really grab you everytime and keep pics on hand. Also I will go to what I have done personally in the past that I really liked and try to rearrange the colors and give that a try. Then there is that one thing. Personally I have this color scheme and texture that I have been trying to achieve for ages. Its simple but I just cant get it. So when I have nothing else I experiment and try for it. Good luck |

I do this too, lots of stuff from members here inspires me... some I don't even know who painted what. Phil |

would sending you a clear orange goga help inspire pickleman? i've loved what i've seen you do so far, maybe reading too much of the negativity that some people spread around about customs has got you paralyzed a bit? fuck them, paint man, paint! |

inspration & creativity are overrated. just do bootlegs of stuff that is already done, preferrably rare editions, and flip them as originals.... |

It everyone else's fault he's currently lacking in creativity. If that's the case (and I don't believe it to be in pickle's case), they shouldn't be an artist in the first place. |
