Hi and sorry to interrupt but my searches aren't turning up what I need to know, so I'm hoping that you guys will throw some tips my way:

1. Can vinyl be glued with a solvent type glue? Any specifics? Are there other ways of bonding broken parts and or for doing mash-ups?
2. What's a good safe primer if not using V-Color?
3. How about rubber glue like if I start slicing up all those extra erasers I scored? I'd guess that rubber cement may not be a good choice, but what do I know?
4. Primers and paints for rubber; any ideas?

Thanks!

Other people will weigh in on this, but I've had a lot of success repairing vinyl with Zap-A-Gap glue.

Erasers? Rubber glue sounds right.

There's also this as a reference:

Thanks Roger. That's a handy site. Now if I can keep from gluing my fingers together, I might be able to get somewhere.

Leecifer would probably know a good primer. I know Krylon makes a spray paint/primer that is supposed to be for vinyl called 'Fusion'. I haven't personally tried it though.

You shouldn't have to use primer on vinyl if you're using V-Color.

I heard that, but I think if you want to hide the base plastic color, it might be useful.

Anyone have opinions or tips on vinyl and rubber fillers for extending or filling?

And thanks, guys, 'ppreciate the help!

I glued a thumb that almost ripped off completely on a skullbee I gave my lil bro with one of those epoxy glues that you mix and cleaned up the excess with a Q-tip, you can't even tell and it has held up to his abuse since. No discoloration or anything

Here's my input as much as I can help-

1. I dunno. never glued any of my vinyl.
2. I like "Painters Touch" primer personally, I think it might be a krylon product.
3. When I did surgery on my MUSCLE figures I used plain ole crazy glue.
4. With MUSCLEs I used painters touch I believe, but it remained tacky to the touch, but once I painted over the primer with acrylics the paint dried fine.

good luck!

New research on faraway LRG site reveals possible bases:
Minnwax polyacrylic
Minnwax Miracle Dip
Liquitex Concentrated Artists Color Med. Visc.
Dullcote
Elmers (yeah some people really use it)

Have *not* tested any of these myself. Heading to hardware store tomorrow to acquire what samples can be had.
