I've done sculpey work on western vinyl pieces without hassle, but was curious if the Japanese stuff would survive "baking." Anyone have issues with RxH or Secret Base vinyl in the oven?

The last thing I want to do is turn my well-prepped blank into a puddle.

I baked Sculpey on an S7 Milton and it came out fine.

Although, the Sculpey wasn't too thick so my cook time was only like 15min @ (I think) 275 degrees.

Thanks. I guess I'll try baking a mini-cat this weekend and seeing what happens. At the very worst, I'll end up with a seriously modded custom.

You can also get Milliput epoxy putty and skip the baking. You don't get as much time to work the material, but it sets up without heat. They sell it with the model railroad stuff at Hobby Lobby.

I've thought about epoxies, but I'm just not fast enough for my lack of skill

A really low temp shouldn't harm the vinyl. You could try baking it in sections letting it cool between bakes.

magic sculpt is the way to go. it sets without heat but has a working time of 3-4 hours depending on temperature. look up moreznmore on ebay, he sells sample size kits so you can get a feel for it. i go through about 40 pounds of magic sculpt a year
