Awesome treatment, z- I love the way this looks, like a Pus painting come to life. Looking forward to seeing it completed! |

I really liked the plain GID but i couldn't find a way to display it that would show all the nice details. I also thought the sculpt deserved a pusheadian treatment so, as i've mentioned before, i took the plunge while quite intoxicated. At least i didn't make a sordid mess of it and it remains one of my fave toys. I can only work on it in short bursts because i quickly loose focus, no idea when it will be finished... |

Dudes !!! I'm the Charlie Sheen of ADD !!! Seriously i find if i stiple for too long i fall into a groove and start patterning the dots into lines instead of the desired diffuse clouds. |

These things had seemed so unattainable before that. Liked it so much i even used the box illustration to practice cutting woodblocks.... ![]() ![]() ...before anyone goes mental rest assured no prints were ever taken out of the house and there was certainly no sale of any either. If there was a way for mere mortals to contact Pushead i would have checked with him before posting this. When i started cutting blocks i found it much easier to start with a stellar design from someone else rather than having the double worry of producing my own great design AND being able to translate it into a nice looking woodblock print. All this neo-japonism business we enjoy deserves woodblock treatment in my opinion. Frontal glow shot: ![]() |

kist wrote: The idea and the execution are perfect, great custom! ![]() Thanks Kist ! I can't find my best prints on almost proper paper, i'm moving and much stuff is apparently packed away. Heres a bad Hanshita print on tracing paper followed by a color test on a piece of bristol board: ![]() ![]() Heres an early test of the first color block i cut, its too big by about 4 mm ( doinks...no idea how that happened...) ![]() Some corrections on the outline block are still needed and the first color block needs to be recut...things will also look cleaner when i get proper paper, ink and a new baren that isn't a complete ruin... That being said i find these rejected test prints are still pretty close to the spirit of what i was getting at: something that looks like it could have been made 150 years ago. |

i dunno... i rather like the off registration. seems very appropriate to the subject. that what i've always liked about woodblocks (and goccos, as well)... the small imperfections that add so much more character and individuality to the prints. |

I tend to agree S., and i do like the rough look on these "rejects". But i'd rather if i was able to absolutely nail it like a japanese master and then decide how "messy" or "rustic" i would like the final prints to look. In other words i would like to have better control of the overall process. |
