I managed to score a blank GID Jiras styled after the old Marusan tin. Its about 1 ft tall. I would really like to get this guy customized, but I have no ideas on what to get done. I already have a flat dark blue version of this and want something a little different. The original vinyl of this is a flat dark green, if I'm not mistaken. I'm just not sure what direction to go. Personally, I love metallic paint jobs, but I don't want to obscure the glow feature of this. So I thought I'd open it up to suggestions. I do love the various off-color glow paint features too (i.e., getting parts to glow red or blue), but I don't want it to be a glowing mess of colors. Maybe the frill can be made to glow another color. And the spines. Now on to the help part. I have almost no artistic ability and would need to find someone to help me out. I know that customizing requires a lot of time, effort, and skill. I fully appreciate that. But truthfully, with my current financial situation coupled with the fact that I already dropped a lot on this guy (with the purchase price, commission, double transportation fees, and obscene conversion costs), I just can't afford to pay anyone too much. Plus I would need to cover shipping to and from the customizer. I don't want to insult anyone with this request, but I suspect that some people actually enjoy this type of work and would love to the opportunity to paint up a piece like this. If I am completely off base, I apologize. I don't want to come off as cheap (which I admittedly am, but I have to be these days) or disrespectful of the effort required. If anyone has any interest and can come up with a cost I can afford, please PM me. But regardless, I would love to hear suggestions on paint schemes while still preserving an awesome glow factor. Thanks all. |

Ok. So I checked out those pics... I could do similar body colors of the matago on your figure. But I don't know if the teal lines would look as good on your fig. I could however use that yellow base and use the teal as other accent colors. Then use the florescent pink on his neck. As for the spines. I think rainbow might screw up the flow. I think the spines done kind or old school in silver or gold would look good What ya think |

Personally I think you can't possibly go wrong with a Popy Jirass or Bullmark giant Goji style colorway: I don't know too many customizers' work first hand, but I'm told (and from pictures I've seen) KaijuZoo is an absolute master at both GID and vintage stylin'. |
