this is like mexican bootleg style of an already "bootleg" kaiju. bravo- this has opened my mind to an army of mini baltans with goofy skull heads, the possibilities are endless and rad. |

Nice work on this guy, the skull especially. I actually prefer this version of 'Galtan.' A great mashup, I only find his claws look a bit out of place with such a large head, since this Bullmark mold has particularly small ones. [Yes, I am being extremely picky ] |

Thanks, guys! Mr. Skattum, my thoughts exactly! I've been toying with names for this piece that will reflect his double-boot nature... Steve, you're just as picky as I am, then: that was my one anatomical reservation about this guy, too, and initially I was thinking of using real crab claws. But I was afraid they would be too fragile (guess I could've filled 'em with foam ), and the fake ones I looked at (which I would have had to cut off realistic crab or lobster toys) weren't exactly the right size, and/or I thought they'd be too heavy. In the end, though, I came to like the way they look on him, once everything was tied together with paint. |

I have to agree, the detail on those mini Gary's is beautiful. Are they resin? I love how you put the red and green together as a pair like that. The Garadeath figure is also incredibly quirky. It's sweet that you could pose him |

Steve, they were rubbery brown vinyl, a Bandai product from the early 80s. Yeah, the GARADEATH can hold some fun poses- he has 3 neodymium magnets in each foot. Just don't get him anywhere near your hard drive! Bill- HA. Do I have a story for you... as it turns out, lacquer did very much not fail me. Bill's alluding to this incident: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=41560&p=666494&hilit=neighbor%27s+dog#p666494 ... which left me apoplectic, then heartbroken. I did end up finding a replacement, and had planned to paint it up for this Monster Mayhem release... however... On 3/31 we had our baby shower, which turned into more of a sweet daytime house party, as we had about 60 people in attendance. Some time into the event, and after all the speechin' and thankin' was done (but before gifts), one of the many Garamike backers present, who hadn't yet seen Garamike in action in person, persuaded me (didn't take much) to go get into full Gara-gear and make an appearance (what's a baby shower w/o kaiju). So this I did, to great effect, stunning the crowd with a croaked announcement of, "Ladies and Germs- I AM THE REAL FATHER!" Then, you know, I just Gara-circulated for a while; most loved it, one toddler was terrified and had to be removed, and a few... just don't know what to make of me, in general. So- speaking of kids, our friend Jenny was in attendance with her 7-yo daughter Greta. Unbeknownst to me at first, when I first descended the stairs, Greta ran over to my wife and said, "Nicole! He looks just like the little toy I found in the grass outside just a bit earlier!" Nicole, having instantly seized on what this must mean, asked Greta to show her. She led Nicole to the picnic table in the yard... and there was lil' Red, wholly intact and none the worse for wear. YES. Not only had he not been through Juniper's digestive tract (all that needless poop-searching... oy... she must've just spit him out...? And man, I thought I had combed every sq cm of that yard...), but he had been outside in months of VT winter weather. AMAZING. Greta was rewarded with a Bandai Gara-mini of her own (which she constructed a little cardboard home for (complete w/ houseplants) and named “Luke”; her mom sent pics the next day ) and a Garamon poster. I sprayed lil’ Red down with one more coat of clear, bagged him w/ his bro, and Bob’s yer uncle. |

Excellent as always Michael. That Galtan is truly the endpoint of some kind of unnatural history. I also quite like the mecha-rot vibe you put on the Garadeath. I wish i could attend that show, looks promising. |

Thanks very much, Ben! I really wish I had had more time and energy to give the GARADEATH and the double-boot Galtan better photographic treatment- there's actually more to them than you'd think from looking at these. Pretty much what I always say ... I have to invest in a good little light tent and just leave it set up! |
