Post subject:  Replacement for V color Thinner -REPORT-it works

Following up on a post buried here earlier I ordered some

METHYL ISOBUTYL KETONE from a chemical dealer on ebay. also known as MIBK.

I mixed it 50/50 with a test sample of flourecent v color and clear v color. the v color did not curdle or string and it dried hard within 5 minutes.

it sprays and brushed just fine, dried correctly and 15 minutes later will not scratch off. This stuff seems to be the replacement. I did the testing on a did piece of japanese made vinyl.

it was about 35 dollars a quart. you also have to pay extra for hazardous materials shipping and i recommend you find someone in state. seems to make it easier.

luckily I bought about 400 jars of V and 30 bog jars of Sofuv before KT shut down, and its all still good. I am seriously considering going to Japan next spring to find and buy a huge amount of it and ship it back commercially.

Fune (不ぬ=boat) post works AOK from Japan. It can take about 3 months, but should get just about ANYTHING over here from there, and I've heard tell that it's a sure and reliable means. As I'm in the states now, I'm usng Jenns Netcraft stuff - seems good so far!

Ok cool I'll keep you all in the loop.

Just a note though, it's not going to be cheap. To get this imported I had to go through a lot of hoops, research and paperwork as well as the fees and legal agents to get it here.

I'm still not done, but once it's in and I feel confident it's a sustainable source I will go from there.

I don't understand why you guys have such a hard time finding V? It took me a solid day of searching to find a retailer that would send it to me, I've made 7 large orders (300 plus, each time) and I've never had a shipment go ghost. J-to Michigan for around 12 dollars... (airmail no less)
