An insane, mind bending custom of Bigfoot's "The Forest Warlord," one off by Skinner. The piece is signed by both Skinner and Bigfoot.

As awesome as this thing is, yes, KR is probably the place for it. Though I am sure there are a handful of Bigfoot fans in the house...

Looks like he popped out of an obscure head comic. Not my bag, but fun.

I dont think its snarky to let me know what you think the parameters are of something you feel strongly about...The reason i posted this here is because I identify myself with this community more, even though I am too busy to participate as much as I would like to...My buddy, BigFoot put this toy out himself and I gave it the extreme makeover that I normally try to do on everything i touch...is it because it is not Japanese vinyl? Is it japanese vinyl? i should probably know...It feels kinda more designerish than Kaiju...I am not into designer stuff myself but the young child in me actually really liked the design and that it is a monster...i suppose I should be more savvy about the politics of this kind of thing...Perhaps I should post it on Kid Robot...Thanks for letting me know you guys...

Skinner, you rule and it's sad there is even such a thing as toy politics. I think the main thing is that it is part of the designer/urban toy realm, even though Bigfoot is certainly on the outskirts of it and not very urban. Think of it like posting about Queen on a Death Metal forum, Mercury kicks ass but isn't really DM. That said, yours is the only Bigfoot I would even consider owning and you certainly made it an amazing toy.

Totally. Though first I'd go for one of those awesome Shogun Warriors that he did! Well, if I was into customs, that is.
And yeah - the term "toy politics" really bums me out. I get it, and understand the NEED to draw a line of differentiation, but still "toy" and "politics" just shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Seriously though... you don't have to draw the line every time just cause it's not (insert whatever is acceptable on this board, which seems to run the gamut from kaiju to dolls to pokemon). Skinner is def more a part of this community than any other online community. He posted a custom and it's rad and his friend sculpted the toy (!). The comments about it not belonging here were unnecessary.

^^this. leave moderating to the mods. if a piece is that far outside of everyone's interests here, it will sink by itself. by the same token, if it finds a home then the thread disappears without the repeated drama bumps.

yes, you guys are right. no one but moderators should be allowed to determine what's right for the community. we should welcome custom [expletive deleted] and fatcaps, too, as long as they're painted by our heroes! free hugs!

Correct, he's been featured at the gallery and in the webstore before.

Sometimes I'm so confused by who determines what is okay here and what is not. I guess it all depends on who you know like every other aspect of life.

If he's ok in grass huts book, he's okay in mine :)

Seriously though, this fits better here than KR, ESP with Skinners touch. What if it was painted by PK or MARTIN O. In the end Skinner owned this... But I'm a bit biased , I'm a huge Skinner fan ;)

I absolutely totally love Skinner's artwork and have for years, but just because he painted something and gave it his own style does not mean it should get a pass. That's like saying Rich or Joe or PK or whoever put some paint on a Skumbo so it's alright to post. I apologize in advance for the terrible mental image, but it's used solely for extreme illustrative purposes.

A really simple way to determine whether a toy is right for this board would be to ask oneself 'was this produced outside of Japan with a run size of hundreds or maybe even thousands?' If the answer to one or both of those questions is yes, then no, it does not belong here. I'm sure there are literally dozens of other venues for stuff that is not as niche as this board. I don't mean that in some sort of supreme nerd elitist type way, that's just what this board is at its core. The Japanese vinyl we all collect probably has a run size of fifty at the very most, with most releases obviously seeing far less than that.

Tons of people here collect outside of the realm that skullbrain is intended to focus on, whatever, that's cool. What I don't really get is how there's a debate every time something like this comes up as it should be pretty black and white regarding what is and what is not acceptable.

This discussion is so tired. Bring on the Squadts. Free hugs.

Keep being awesome at what you do, Skinner.

great paint app, regardless of the toy.

I really enjoy Skinners art. this at least showcases that, whether people care to buy it or not.

What? Why, because it's Skinner and it should be ok then? Nope.

Actually, yeah, that is why. That's the short story.

Here's a longer story. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about anything, but I did a quick googling so now I'm an expert.

Mishka Bootleg and Max Toy come to mind. Made in China with occasional decent sized runs. It says that there is 100 of each colorway of this big foot toy, if you want to get all technical.

bansheebot wrote:

It's obviously not, and it never will be. It may be black and white for you though, because you know what you like.

Sorry, I'm not saying that this place needs to be the next KR or whatever, but I can't stand pretentiousness. And that's what this is.

Post subject:  Re: Bigfoot - Customized One Off - by Skinner

You're wrong on so many levels. There's only one Bigfoot limited to 100, if you want to get all technical. Mass produced Chinese garbage does not belong here. It doesn't get more simple than that. This is not pretension, this board is built around something very specific and it should stay that way. Why is that so hard for anyone to understand? Skinner may not be aware because by his own admission, he doesn't get to come here all that often.

I personally could not care less about MISHKA or their Bootleg. Why it gets a pass, I have no idea, but there are tons of rabid MISHKA fanboys here so that would probably explain it.
