Post subject:  Rhinomilk's Furst Kustom
Well, here is my first pitiful attempt at a custom. Workmanship is pretty shitty... but i'm working on it. Wasnt' til i was about 75% done that i figured out how to get rid of those goddam cobwebs that spit out. Some of it looks jacked up because I was trying to cover up mistakes. Thanks to Pogue for providing my first specimen... i hope this piece wasn't extremly scarce and desirable.

oh yeah. if anyone has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know... looks pretty darn good for a first attempt... :D

As for cobwebs, what I do is once I see some webs starting to accumulate, I either add more thinner into the paint cup and mix it up, or if the webbing is REALLY bad, I stop, and load the cup with thinner - gently spray the thinner onto the webs, and they should disolve away.

ah. thanks for the tip... no wonder those webs seemed to disappear sometimes... alot easier than when i was using a qtip to clean them off.

very nice. I guess it's just a matter of getting to know the right consistency of the paint to be rid of the webs. More practice should do it but that looks great.

rhino just remember ATLEAST 50% thinner. I havent gotten any webs yet because I over thin by a hair :)

the original colors were sorta funky... red vinyl w/ bright blue and gold.

yeah, what i did towards the end was paint on a piece of paper until i saw webs come out... then i dumped my cup & added a bit more and repeated until i (as you might guess) didn't see anymore.

well.. i'm planning on practicing til i think i can do a kaws x pus w/o ruining it. may take me awhile....

I think this is a great first outing, rhino- and nice choice of piece, too- I love the Tsubraya/Yamanya stuff- keep it up!

A tip on airbrush paint consistency (tho it seems you're well on your way w/ tips): you want to have the paint mixed to about the consistency of milk before you load your cup. One great product I've discovered to help get this consistency and keep the flow smooth is called Floetrol. You can find it at any good hardware store, sold as a "paint extender" in a beige 1/2 gallon bottle. You can experiment with it- some people recommend using it straight or with a little water (I usually go the latter route). Good stuff.

hm.. this stuff sounds interesting. I used v-color (now i know why people like it so much) ... does it mix well with that paint? thanks for the tip

I just read that...

I wouldnt mix anything yet. V-color is a strange beast. Ask Pualkaiju or locomoco before you mix anything. Me personally, I wouldnt mix anything that isnt v-color into v-color.
