I want to customize a figure, but I've never done it before. Since I don't have an airbrush, what is the best way to evenly paint figures to a base color? I want to paint a whole figure black. Would just simple spraypaint do? Also, what is the best type of paint to use for details? |

Well you have options but its going to really depend on what toy you are actually doing. The only thing is that it wil take a while by hand and painting by hand should look fine as long as you do not have a large smooth area. Using a spray paint for a solid color is fine as a base for paint, and if you want to just paint it one color it should do the trick, I would just recommend using a flat primer then spray it with a gloss coat. Tamiya works fine but hell I have even used Design Master from your local Michaels hobby store for garage kits in the old day and they oddly work better then any sort of Krylon... Just make sure the spray paint says its fine for plastics or vinyl. PM me with any questions or sample pics of the stuff I did over the years... Hope that helps Redhaned |

If it's a vinyl figure, you can get that crazy V-Color paint in a can from Kaiju Taro |

I know, it seem like everyone uses it and I had no idea what the hell it was until some kind people sent me the link. I may just get some to see what the buzz is...the color range and what the people have produced has been nice. I'm sure its great for toys, but I mostly do vinyl and resin kits... I'm just scared I may start doing toys more then kits. Please post your results when your finished. Redhanded |
