There's some burger joint in Alsip, IL or maybe Midlothian, that made it's own root beer and sold it in recycled milk gallons. Ruled, it tasted awesome and looked so bootleg. PLUS root beer is a good ingredient for making killer BBQ sauce. |

Boylan's Root Beer and their other flavors are 100% exactly how soda should taste. One sip of that stuff and you realize how syrupy, crappy and flavorless most modern sodas are. |

Virgil's rules...They even make mini kegs of it. Anyone remember Hire's Rootbeer? I don't think they make it anymore, but it was damn good as well. |

I think they were taken over by the makers of Dr. Pepper/Snapple. You can still find it in cans at some stores. One of the best soda stores I've ever been in is here in LA. Galco's Soda Pop Stop have around 450 different varieties of soda and 500 different beers. When I have visitors who wax nostalgia about a certain soda/beer that they can't find any more I take them there just to watch their reaction. |

i don't drink it much any more (just diet coke with lime for me now when it comes to soda) but when i did in college there was no better rootbeer than virgil's. i kills all other rootbeers by a longshot. |

kemper's & weinhart's both have honey in them so i don't drink them. others have been left out as well because i had to cut it off somewhere and i felt 40 was a good number. the majority of these were bought at Galco's & BevMo. The Avery's was shipped to me from New Britain, CT.. I had to have a little taste of home in this thing. |

Sparky's is my favorite. Been drinking it since it was only available around their home in Pacific Grove. I use to pick up a few cases every time I went through Carmel (which was often). I told Galco's about it and they started carrying it a week later. Can't get enough of it. If anyone tries it, I suggest drinking it cold, poured in a chilled glass with no ice. |
