Tomorrow(Friday)will be my first trip to the Super 7 store. I was just wondering what really cool places are there to visit Super 7. Also does anyone know how far Fishermans Warf is from Super 7? I'll be at Gilman St Project that night also for Gehenna and 108!!!
Any info of places/shops/etc would be bad ass.

At Super7 you should have a postcard with a map that shows other shops in the area that carry similar stuff. That's a good starting point.

Also, check out the malls across the street, they have a lot of Japanese stuff, and the noodle place in there (on the ground floor, by the street entrance) is worth hitting.

Definitely go to Kimono My House. It's worth the trip.

S7 is in SF's Japantown. Across the street from the store is the start of the small malls. The first one has the Ichibankan where you can buy some snacks...okay...a lot of snacks to munch on when you're driving around. I was there the other day and bought a pack of Pocky (macha and chocolate marble swirls...yummy) along with some Hi-Chew. There also some places to eat and a bar. Then next little mall has more places to eat, a video store (if you're into anime) and a few other stores. After that, you'll cross the bridge and walk by On the Bridge (yummy place to eat) and on to the Kinokuniya building. This is where the bookstore is and they remodeled it. Most of the books are on the top floor and some on the bottom floor. There is also a small toy store in the bottom floor. Mostly plastic kits of cars, fighter planes, and some Gundam kits along with anime figures. My picks for food...if you want a big bowl of rice and curry: On the Bridge. If you want some ramen: Tampopo. Tampopo is in the cobble stone area of Japantown. As far as the noodle place on the bottom floor of Kinokuniya...while the noodles were good, the broth tasted kinda funny. I haven't gone back so maybe it's changed since then.
Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 is probably about 5min away by car...as long as the traffic is pretty light.
Haight street is always interesting. Ameoba records, sneaker shops, Giant Robot, sneaker shops, that other toy store if you collect western stuff, sneaker shops, interesting places to eat, oh....and sneaker shops if you're into sneakers (I'm not....really....I'm not). If you're up for the weekend, you're timing is good since Mike Giant and Usugrow will be having a show at White Walls. The show is this Saturday and some of us board memebers will be there, as well as S7 people....then we can all hang out at the nudie bar across the street...lol.
Not knowing a thing about you other than you collect kaiju/neo-kaiju, it's hard to say what you should check out. I generally try not to bring out of town friends to the Pier unless they want to go to Hooters. Knowing that you'll be going to the Gilman St Project...then you might want to go to Haight Street. I'm not a Berkeley person so maybe those East Bay peeps can chime in on places to go in the East Bay.

Thanks for the info so far guys. Especially you gatchabert. I will probably hit up the record shops(hopefully to find me some tasty hardcore/punk vinyl). Unfortunately I will have top miss the Usugrow art show since I have to be at work that morning in Northern San Diego(by the way I don't do nudie bars, but if i was hanging with some skullbrainers i'd most def do it than).

P.S.;does anyone know(other than ebay)where I can find M.U.S.C.L.E. figures??? I have around 170 but need about 63 of the original line. I need the full color poster and the ring.

It's all good. Sometimes detailed information is better.

Also 2 of the folks on this trip are vegan. Is there any specific places in Japantown with vegan meals???

I know On the Bridge has a couple of veggie dishes (I don't really know, I've only been there a few times...hehehe). That might be your best bet. Tampopo uses chicken stock for the broth so that's out of the question...but then I'm not 100% on that. They might use straight water for a couple of the ramen broths. Doobu is a Korean place and I think they have some veggie dishes, but On the Bridge is pretty fun...ask JoeBunny about it :)

Holy smokes! I've lived here my entire life and I didn't know this.

Someone mentioned Kimono My House. If you're going to be in Berkeley, you should take the time to check it out. Google it for directions.

Haight St. is usually a good place to spend a few hours, too.

If you go to Milpitas, watch out for the Milpitas Monster.

The waste disposal dump of a small California town spawns a horrible "garbage creature" that upsets the city's trash pickup schedule because it eats all the local garbage can lids.

Many thanks to all the folks who gave their input. It came in handy as I visited several of the places that were mentioned. I only had 1 day to chill and I had plans to visit Kozik's shop so I was not able to fit it all in a one day schedule though. It was still allot of fun and I hope to go up to Frisco again. I might come up for the RxH/Lily Japan Super 7 event so we'll see!!!

Okay,I might go back up to the bay on Friday December 7th and 8th. Friday there is a great show at Gilman St with N/N(ex-Los Crudos/current Limp Wrist) and Boom Boom Kid from Argentina(ex-Fun People)and Saturday of course will be the Real X Head/Lily Japan show at S7. I'll try to use the other suggestions that I had no time for on this upcoming trip. I am not anxious for the 12 hours each way Greyhound trip...scary!!!

12 hours each way? dude, wouldn't it be faster, easier and around the same amount of $$ to rent a car? I get rates like $18 a day on one of those auction sites..

It would be buy due to some(ahem ahem)problems back in LA where used to live I do not have a license at the moment. I thought about seeing if anyone from the Southern Cali area is going and if they need/want some company. I'm a pretty good guy and I have $$ for gas. Hell,I might even have a place to stay at a friends apartment. Any takers???
