Crazy-ness, I think some of the warnings that were popping up last week were from early attempts to hack the site. Essentially they were trying to gain access to the server through the bbs, when they managed to insert code last night (into the scheme file) alarms would go up on every page view. Koo-koo.

Yeah I saw the thread last week, thought it was just web sense nonsense, since that's what I was used to. Then I got it this am at home and I do not have web sense here, duh. I pooped a little...

Hey Hacker;
You're not that smart or clever. Lots of people know how to cut, paste and re-init. Most people are smart enough however, to follow their own interests, respect the interests of others and not get caught up playing "king of the hill" on what really amounts to a conglomeration of boring office machines. Even if you hacked every user's machine here, you'd still get no respect or fear. You're an irritant and an inconvenience, period. Someday they will find you smothered beneath a pile of your mom's dirty underwear in the basement where you live. 'Til then, try not to hang out underneath the laundry chute, putz.

Thanks S7 for being enduring as well as cool!

Getting both the boards and the store up on the eve of a Le Merde show is commendable thats for sure. Hope it went well :)

My guess is that someone set up port forwrding to enable remote access to the server's Mysql leaving an opening for random baddies.

Kubrick World, while it was still up and running, had problems with hackers. Part of the problem is PHPBB - great forum setup however it's not 100% secure and does suffer from some open issues. Unfortunately this is one of those things where you might wonder why someone would bother, especially on this site or any "toy" related site. If this was a transactional forum then I could see it, but this falls under "we're hackers and we can do it just to show we can". Which is l-a-m-e. Why not do something more constructive with your time...like getting a job and moving out of your parent's basement?
