Super7 revealed the Monster Family series lineup on a flier including what we believe are newly announced figures by Itokin Park (horned creature), Mutant Massacre (fireman), and Paul Kaiju (cat reptile?). We’re really enjoying this series sculpted by Kiyoka Ikeda of Gargamel.

This series is INSANE, I love all on them in some way. The best part thou is speculating who will be in series 2. It's like when I collected pokemon cards as a kid. I loved what I had but couldn't wait for that next set!

so what's the deal with these?
have they been released yet?
will they be blind bagged or released individually?
are we talking 3-4"?

I doubt they will be blind bagged because Steven and Hollis haven't been and I would say there close to 4 inches but i haven't measured any of them.

I think they'll all be around 4 inches. I just measured a Steven and he's 4 inches. Here's a pic from the last time I visited S7. I highly doubt they will be blind bagged.

The only sculpts from the Monster Family line that have been released so far are:
Hollis: Unpainted Blue, Unpainted Black, GID with painted head, Magenta (SDCC), Unpainted White (SDCC)
Steven: WTF Tour Stevens (7 total I believe, different sprays for each stop, all on GID vinyl), Citrus (SDCC), Unpainted white (SDCC)
Big Sal: Clear blue vinyl with white spray and red accents (SDCC)
Vampire Rose: Unpainted White (SDCC)

Damn. Kiyoka can sculpt anything. Amazing.

Having a toy sculpted by Kiyoka is like dream for me. I can't even grasp how he does all these styles to smoothly and so precise. When I sculpt I might as well have paws, Cause my fingers just can't do it.

It would be kind of cool if each artist that created these toys had a turn picking the color schemes for each different toys release at least once. One artist and 7 different toys. Then round again or S7 choices.

I think they do.
I know LM chose the colors for the SDCC release.

The artists always pick their own colors, sometimes we suggest ideas, but, they end up picking.

For WTF Steven, I think any one of the seven variants counts as having one of the WTF stevens and enough. Collecting all 7 is for the super fans of bwana. I count it as one toy with seven variants, pick a color, they are all about the same in quantity.

awesome to know that the artists choose the colors!

as for the stevens... i had told myself that one wtf steven was enough, but after getting it in hand, i had to have them all!
the sculpt came out great.
actually all of the sculpts are great. super7 rocks!

I mean that each artist would get a chance to pick out the colors at least once for all 7 of the MonsterFamily. It would be fun to see each of their paint choices on the toys created by the others.

So one round of all 7 monster family goes to Paul. The next round of all 7 goes to Josh. And so on. Or not. Just a thought.

Post subject:  Re: Super7 Monster Family

I agree, a cool idea, it may work as a single swap set, but I don't see any of the artists giving up 6 colorways to other folks instead of getting to live the dream and make their own. You never know though!
