KISS has no age! I know 8 year olds into KISS. Though it's not my fav. album, that's my fav. album cover of theirs next to "Hotter Than Hell."

My first album was Kiss Double platinum or the solo Gene Simmons (I think Ace's was the best of the solo albums)... I had previous KISS releases but lets not talk about 8-tracks

I still have my "KISS ALIVE II" complete with fake tatoos vinyl. I love all the gimmicky junk that came with their stuff. We need more of that now, Balzac is pretty tight on it though.

I don't mean to dis, but Kiss ?? Even if I try, I still can't listen to it. I keep thinking of the movie 'Detroit rock city'.
Furthermore, the cover been done too many times. Even Metallica did it for their fan club tee.

sorta like...
I don't mean to dis, but Michelangelo and Da Vinci?? Even if I try, I still can't look at their work. I keep thinking of the museums
Furthermore, their works have been on book covers at Barnes and Nobles too many times. Even Borders did a Michelangelo print for their art book club tote bag.

If your reference point for KISS is the movie Detriot Rock City and a Metallica tee, well we have forgiven you, for you do not know...

"Old enough" for KISS? It is to laugh ... My first album was The Doors - bought at its release, IIRC from Sears for $2.29.

KISS was interesting decades ago. But they marketed/licensed the shit out of it.
Plus Simmons is a complete insecure posturing ass.

My interest in KISS now is more the idea. Not the music as much, but just the nature of the whole thing I guess. Gene being a douche, Ace being a freak things like that, the image as a whole. Mainly, the fact that you can not make very good music (I like their music, but that don't mean it's good) and not even really get much radio play, but still be one of the biggest live acts and money making bands ever. It still confuses the hell outa me how it all got pulled off.

Their first three albums tanked and it was only till the first live album that they were able to get substantial sales. I think they became ever more popular because of the spectacle of the event and not the music.

KISS was also very big in Japan if I remember correctly.

I hope that Avatar is a t-shirt that the rest of us can buy. Rest of us being not in Japan at Ichibanboshi this weekend. I was so in to KISS growing up i don't think i realized there were any other bands until like sixth grade. Now they annoy me, but i still love that old stuff. No matter how bad it really is.

Yeah they were. But that's the whole mistique, these total scrubs got huge. None of their albums (except Alive! and Destroyer) ever did very good.

I too hope for shirts of that!

You summed it alright, Pure evil, cash cow, nostalgia mongers and 70's Icon, Marketing geniuses

Yup, Kiss even did disco, for all the disco lovers out there.

I grew up with British music; my first intro to stage music was Iron Maiden.
