The next in my series of Fresh Meat questions:

Trades & purchases seem to usually include header and bag for most toys. Occaisonally there is no header and bag.....available, but asking prices don't seem to reflect that.

So what does that do to the overall value of the toy in your opinion, if it is still minty anyway, and just loose? Does it depend on how rare the toy is, and you should just be happy you found it in the first place?

(Obviously samples and protos are excluded....)

I only collect bags and headers (some staples) I then let my dogs eat my kaiju. I like rxh because my friends that dont know anything about rxh think all the headers look alike, what a bunch of fools!

Depends on rarity. I prefer headers, don't care nuch about bags but lack of a header won't stop me from buying a rare item I want just because theres no header.

I prefer them already opened but with the header.....this way I dont even have to think about breaking it open ..LOL...its already done.

I open all that are for my collection...If I end up with a double thru a trade usually I wont open it if its not already.

I dont know why I cant open my Freakin Wings!!!!!!!!!!...the Only ones I have not opened...even the "Commons"...drives me nuts but I cant do it!!!!!!...but they do look Killer all bagged up on my wall.

I think Krud's got it right for the OG question

For me I want the entire package. The header, and bag definitely are part of the entire package. Without them it will affect to cost .... for me.

UNLESS its a fig I have been wanting and hunting for than I would take the hit.

I always appreciate having the header but ultimately don't care as I never buy with the intention of trade-flipping or reselling. I do save bags and headers of everything I buy new, and have learned the value of inserting index cards into the bags with some information identifying the toy as a "just in case" sort of nerdiness. Many headers are just fun to look at now and then.

Various personal preferences aside, I don't believe that the existence of the header (or not) should matter at all regarding value. The exception would be those rare vintage toys that were never opened. It's conventional in any toy scene for older sealed toys to be worth a bit more.

I want the bag and the header and if the toy is without I'm cool buying it but not at the full price I would regularly unless it was super tough to snag. Pretty simple set up.

It actually doesn't matter coz you are collecting the figure not the bag. Unless you are a perfectionist :)

For me, I also prefer it come with the bag and header :D :D :D

BloodDrinker-

That's exactly what I am getting at. If toys are from the past decade or younger...I believe that packaging has an effect on value to be damn sure.... Basically, you should be able to find an example in bagged/sealed condition....unless you just don't wanna wait to find it.

The exceptions again are toys either released in low numbers, production sample or prototype....or just generally very hard to get.

Bottom line for me is that if it isn't minty in package, the header and bag have to be included for it to get top dollar......

It sure is nice that selling and trading around here are not about getting top dollar. At least at best, and when deals are truly about the RFSO ethic.

Just me, but I don't care too much one way or another, as I open up the toys as soon as I get them. A header card is a nice addition, but the toy is the reason for purchase. In vintage vinyls, prices are based on mint loose figures. Headers and bags make them more valuable, but is a percentage over what the loose figure would be. No one in vintage vinyl collects figures only in bags, as it would be impossible, they are merely additions to your existing loose collection. I act the same way about the new toys, prices are based on mint toys, not mint packages. packaging might get you a few dollars more, but the figure is what people want.
