Um, er. Um. Not crazy about their color choices, but I've got one on order already. I'm sure I'll like it when it arrives.

Croco-fish!

Not sure if I like the colors either, but it's cool to see this sculpt painted. This may be one of my favorite DR sculpts. It will be interesting to see the various colorways released.

That's great, like a distant cousin of Zags. I'm not into the colors either, but it's a nutty sculpt.

I actually dig the look and the colors -- it fits the model and has a bit of a radioactive-look to it.

Any idea on the height?

Is this part of the Akakage line? Not feelin the sculpt or the paint. This actually makes the Gabari sculpt cooler in comparison. Just my 2 centavos.

Seem ok, but I can see what I already don't like.

1. There is no detail on the gut, with such a large areas it should have either scale or a potbelly.
2. the color - the underside looks flat which is really not a good idea esp when its on the undetailed gut of his.
3. Should have added some color accents to the huge head and the legs. Even a slight blast of a contrasting color or metallic would make it pop, maybe even on the belly.

I do like the sculpt though, it is one of the few toys to me that looks like guy in a rubber suit

I hate to say it, but it looks like a kinda lame sculpt to me. Looks like it was good on paper but somewhere the attempt got lost in translation. Just comes across kinda CLUNKY, maybe it is what they intended ?

Clunky as a guy in rubber suit :)

The weird clunkyness is what I like.

Kinda bucks the Dream Rocket / M1 trend of making monsters more graceful and tasteful, rather than clunky and blobby. I wonder if this is intentional, and the people seeing "rubber suit" are right on the money? The colors scream "vintage colorway" if you ask me. I'm not totally crazy about them either, but again, they seem to look chronologically backwards, rather than indulging the current metallic paint craze. I am so on the fence but kinda like the guy for being odd.

+1.. That's why I asked if this was part of the Akakage line up. I mean if it was based on an existing character from a show then I guess they can't help they way it looks. I like the Balbagon, Gumoh, Gillmoh and Gazura sculpts and wish they add on to that line and go back to those design estetics. As for the Akakage line I like Doguma, Jyacoe , Agon. I'm even starting to like the Gabari, Ganda and Hitotsume sculpts..

This is one of my favorite Dream Rocket sculpts to date. I have voiced my opinion on their work before, but it seems with every toy of theirs, there's one glaring element to it that really detracts from the toy overall (Jyacoe's tail for instance). This one is spot on. I personally like the colors, but would like to see a more evil looking one, or one with a GID eye and other stuff.

Yes, this is also from the Akakage series.

Interesting that other people had the 'rubber suit' thought as well. I had the same impression when I saw the initial unpainted sculpt. Actually, I've seen short clips of the original live-action Akakage show, and the Dream Rocket toys seem to be spot-on as to the on-screen portrayal of these guys. In contrast, the Marmit Para-babies are highly stylized when you put them next to the DR toys. I like the clunkiness of this toy, as opposed to the hyper-realism or the exaggerated toy-ish look that many other companies in the high-end JP vinyl market seem to favor.

I think the paint might be underwhelming at this point, due to the small picture. When you pick up a DR toy, there is just something great about the feel and coloration that's hard to convey in the little photos.

Good point. While the staged kaiju fight photos at the DR site are fun, their photography doesn't show their own toys off at their best, unfortunately.

Don't know if anyone else picked this up.

As always with Dream Rocket, I'm pleasantly surprised by this toy.

Some thoughts:

1. Both the new Jyako and Jijigora use a metallic spray on top of a matching base color. The effect is imperceptible from a distance, but it adds real depth to the colors.

2. There is a lot of texture in this sculpt- almost looks like an actual reptile's skin.

3. The eye. This is my least favorite aspect of the sculpt/paint, but it is very well executed.

4. Jijigora is noted as a "Tokage," or "Lizard," kaiju. I guess he was inspired by those flying geckos from one of the tropical regions.

K-T still has this one in stock. :)
