Post subject:  Biskup SDCC Zag question...

Hey everybody...

wanted to ask if anyone has seen one of the pink SDCC Biskup Zags come up recently and if so for how much? I didn't really buy Gargamel until about a year ago so I just missed out on this Zag by a few months back in '06...and then I assumed I could always find it...

I think I assumed WAY wrong...anyway, anyone seen this recently? what's the damage?

also, what was the run on this piece?

thanks,

Lorne

From the web...

Tim's version of the 9" vinyl figure from Gargamel - Limited Edition of 80 with a signed & numbered letterpress printed header card

I've seen them go for 150-160 on ebay...and that was months ago.

They had some of these for sale at the Pasadena Museum show....which is still going on. Maybe you can call the museum and see if any are left?

I actually kinda liked the header more than the actual figure on this one...

whether u like the colors or not, quality of paintjob is way more subtle
compared to other zagoran - me like zagoran sculpt very much but
paintjob on most of em only seems ok imo, whereas hedorans much nicer.

...were they handpainted by biskup himself???

Good question. I don't know if they were or if they were "based" on his work like the Mecha G's were.

They were factory painted in Tim's original colors/design.

thanks for the info koji - may i ask,
factory painted - how to imagine this works for u @ gargamel?
....does gargamel have influence on the person who does em?
is it always the same or a few?
or is it actually couple of people, each one doing one paint detail
dropping fig on to the next person?
some info on the term "factory painted" and what it actually means
for gargamel is very much appreciated - thanks for understanding.

Factory painted means the original piece was sent to the factory and the colors were matched and then the paint application was copied. This is a small operation and they only work with soft vinyl figures so they do have some experience. For Gargamel this is done with less complicated paint applications, maybe only 1 out of 5 releases are painted at the factory.
