| Post subject: | Question about Bear Model/ Marusan figures |
Not sure if this is the right place to ask about these guys, but these are definitely not Vintage, just older Bear Model and Marusan pieces. So being new to Kaiju and liking older Marmit/M1/Marusan/Bear Model etc etc I figured a good starting point would be Hyper Hobby Roman Albums. Lots of pics. anyhow I stumbled across these guys in Hyper Hobby Dash 6. From the other figures pictured I was able to assess the company that makes them but not the figures themselves, does anyone know what they're called? Part two of the question would be is it the same figure just different takes on it by different companies? Excuse my scanning abilities!: Bear Model (the darker one is badass I really want to get it):
Marusan:
thanks for any info |

The top one is named "Sazan Seijin"; the darker one is apparently an event limited version (the picture is mirrored, so the writing is backwards). The bottom one is named "Mini Rarigonika" (I would assume mini figure, given the two-part construction) and appears to be a 1st and 2nd version (can't read that last kanji so well). I love Bear Model stuff- I keep finding pieces that I had no idea existed. |

Rarigonika is made by Amparo. I think it's one of their earliest figs.
And the Alien Sazan is classic Bare Model! One of my favorites.

the_z wrote: Is Sazan from Silver Kamen, or am I making that up? Yep. The little sheet says so. Also, the figure archive on Amapro's site has a corresponding entry for the mini Rarigonika (but no picture). http://amapro.hp.infoseek.co.jp/syouhin.html |

Old Bear model pieces are getting harder to find lately it seems. They are really crude sculpts. Waxy and soft. This is my personal fave. He's always in circulation in my case.He was hard to find at the time (pre internet for me!) Gander. Weird insect bug fish.
You know...I just looked on Ebay and other places and there's no Bear Model stuff at all! Used to be you couldn't give them away. it's a mystery! |

Just a follow up on this post. Thanks to akum6n and plover (who both spotted it) I was able to find the bear model red seijin on YJA and score it through Celga. I'm getting quite a haul together and will ship it soon (in the next two weeks) I'll post pics- lots of goodies thanks Chris |

akum6n wrote: Hmm, that would explain why it appears to be next to a Naruton in the magazine scan. In the Amapro VCD compilation that guy is fighting a Naruton in one of his short films.. Armor Jack comes up pushes him out of the way and then stabs the Naruton over and over. Awesome! turtletooth wrote: I heard that Amapro is Marusan. Anyone know if that's true. Noop, not true (I'm quite sure anyway...). Amapro is just Amapro. He makes short films and toys. One of my favorites! |

That sazan figure is cool enough that if I still had hair, I'd dye it and gel it straight up. Strictly as a tribute to the coolness of the figure, of course. |
