a***o isnt an actual name. ebay does that to keep the high bidder's identity a secret. i used to get hatemail a lot when i sniped stuff, i still do. maybe theyre trying to keep us all from shankin each other

In reality it actually causes more problems, like shill bidding and other such ridiculouseness - ebays only reasoning for this would appear to be to protect identities so people don't contact the unsuccessful bidders and offer them a similar item, thus circumventing ebay and their fees (IMO)

oh, my apologies.

yah the new eBay system is lame though it is kind of understandable from a business point. I mean for my work I get people calling me all the time because I post my phone number in our auctions. I used to query people all the time through "contact this person".

There are a lot of eBayers though that only feel comfortable with "eBay: & PayPal. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
