Post subject:  New Rainbow Barom 1 demons

Here's a link to a YJA pre-order for the Mino Geruge (Bagworm demon) and Umiushige (Sea Slug Demon). Looks like there are at least 2 versions of each and pre-orders will be taken until the end of Feb. Release will be end of June. Any translators that can give us specifics on the different versions?

Cool. Glenn, I didn't mean for the post to steer people to pre-order through this auction. Just wanted to let interested members know which demons are up next.

What's interesting to me is it looks like there are A, B, & C versions of each one. I like the brown/blue highlights Sea Slug dude.

The "A" Version is the Minogerure
The "B" Version is the Umiushige
And the "C" is for a set

There are two versions of these. One is a Hyper Hobby Ver and the other is the Rainbow ver. It looks like it's going to be released near the begining of June.

Thanks so much for the info. The squid and fish scale demons should be arriving within the week. Can't wait to see the quality of these vinyls in hand. May be some of the best of the recent Rainbow releases.

I got the Black Ikageruge the other day, it looks great! All black with a pinkish metallic eye paint. But I am not digging these two.

Does anyone here know the address for the Rainbow site?

I got the fish scale demon and it's one of my favorite rainbow figures yet - I'm surprised more people are raving about it - or maybe they haven't arrived yet - but it's a great figure.

I'm not digging these new rainbows either which is fine because I'm so over-spent right now it's scary.

i got the white ikageruge last week,,,

was very excited when they went up for pre-order (the closest thing to owning the vintage mini-version)..

was underwhelmed when it finally arrived last week...put it up for sale,,with no bites

but i had a change of heart,,,took it out of the bag & now i have no regrets..

as for the other recent rainbows,,i am not too keen on them to be honest...although i am keeping an open mind..

Hypermook, I've searched around for the Rainbow website before with no luck. I don't know any secret handshakes or classified pass words, tho. Josh might be able to help since he can order these.

Here are a couple pics of the Urokoruge fish scale demon:

This dude is one of my favories: sturdy figure with no problem standing on its own and completely bizarre next to the other vinyls.
I like the sculpts and highlights on the Ikaruge squid demons, both black and white, but they don't come close to standing on their own which is becoming a real turn off regarding some of these Barom 1 Rainbow vinyls.

I'm anxious to see the Inazuman Rainbow vinyls coming out in March, hopefully no sculpt or standing issues with those...

Thanks for the response, I'll ask Josh about the website when he is less busy.

As for the standing issues---toys that can't stand suck. It's such a disapointment to spend $$$! on these guys only to watch them fall. I've had to do a little hot water adjustments on a couple, but for the price, these things should not only stand---but they should dance around a little too.

I'm anxious about the Inazuman stuff too. That's why I was asking about the website. I've had Emperor Bamba pre-ordered since Dec., and was wondering when he was going to be released.

No problem, HM. I agree wholeheartedly on the standing issue, especially for the price on these.

If I remember correctly, the release date for Bamba and Udespar is sometime in March. The last several Rainbow releases have been at the end of the release month, so probably end of March; you'll probably have them in hand by first week in April.

I've had no standing issues with any of my demons luckily...however I didn't like the way the Octopus Demon pieces fit together...it's really awkward and as these are NEVER at retail for less than $110 or more they should be put together better.

That said, the ones I own are some of my favorite toys period.

Yeah, I also dislike the way the Takogeruge fits together at the waist. If you look at the waist of the Sea Slug Demon in this pic

it looks like it may also have the same problem.

The Rainbow Barom 1 kaiju are awesome and are also some of my favorite vinyls in my collection, I guess that I'm also a little picky about the quality based on the prices.

i dont think rainbow has an official website. some of their releases, the THN exclusives, show up on the toei hero net website, but its usually just a small image and not a ton of info. i kind of dig that there isnt much info on these figures, just a couple web images, maybe a hyper hobby spread, and they just show up one day.

as for the standing issues, ive had varying luck with the ones ive bought. when we get them here at the store, some examples of a certain figure stand great, some not so much. the ikageruge i bought wouldnt stand to save its life, but the one we opened in store for display is just fine. i did some work with a hairdryer and cold water, and now he stands like a champ.

that fish scale dude looks so freaking rad! our supply of those will be arriving soon, i cant wait!

ps- hey eric, can you take some nice photos of that dahlia shocker sometime? i desperately want that figure!

Hey Josh, I'll add pics of the Dahlia Shocker in the vintage section.

It's good to hear that the standing issues can be resolved with a hair dryer and some cold water. Now I've just got to get up off my lazy ass and just do it. If I can get them all to stand without assistance then I could arrange the shelf much better.

with a bit of work, you should be able to get all of them to stand nicely. so far, the ikageruge has been the toughest one for me to make behave, but after a few tries, i was able to tame the squid. when you get it nice and pliable, try posing it leaning a bit further forward than what seems right, and it should settle into a nice standing groove.

Cool, thanks so much! I'll make it a project so these dudes won't look like a crowd of drunks leaning all over the shelf!
